Note: Alas, a bogus "story." Update on Red State about the blog writer's diary entry: MEMBER DIARY Obama DOT Plans use of National Guard to close I-495 Capital Beltway tomorrow? By: Glenn Ryt (Diary) | October 10th, 2013 at 06:52 AM | 28 These are the sorts of user diaries that make me wonder why we have user diaries as all our credibility suffers. Please use your user diary responsibly. Erick
President approves Dept. of Transportation proposal to counter anti-Obama Trucker protest Friday, October 11?
End of update.
Sources within the Department of Transportation have revealed that their plan to use National Guard resources to close federally funded Interstate Route 495, circling the nations capital, have been approved by unknown White House officials and will be implemented on Friday morning, October 11, in order to thwart the three day Trucker slowdown announced on the Capitol Beltway starting that date, using the federal government shutdown as justification.
The National Guard resources to be used to thwart the truckers will include rifle toting National Guardsmen called up from units that will be coming in from Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. They will use Guardsmen on foot and using trucks, jeeps and armored vehicles, which will be stationed at all entrance ramps to the Beltway to block incoming traffic starting early Friday morning.
Calls to both the White House and the Department of Transportation to confirm this story were not answered at press time. Unless an announcement is made in advance, it appears the first notice of this new White House plan to punish House GOP members who have cited their Constitutional authority to approve or not approve all spending proposed by the White House and their Democratic allies in the Senate, will be early Friday morning.
Its satire.
Correct. Satire.
Truck Obama
There, I said it again.
Dhooo! didnt see the comment at the bottom.
Satire, but plausible.
So wait,, NO traffic on I-95 beltway will be allowed tomorrow? How is that going to happen?
Jeeps?
Block incoming traffic? All of it?
I fell for it! My bad....snort!
It doesn’t say in the article but it should.
Unfortunately such satire is becoming all too plausible.
I dunno but I-81 N was at a standstill tonight due to the insane amount of semis.
We were wondering if they were shutting down I81 just for practice.
I give the author a pass on this one. The DOT calls up the National Guard from 3 states?
I’m a bit embarrassed by falling for this but only a bit. Considering the heavy handedness of late this was not hard to believe.
Well.... just two weeks ago...
Obama closing Mt. Rushmore was satire.
Obama closing the Veteran’s Memorial was satire.
Obama closing parks that are not funded by the government was satire.
Obama having the the pump handles removed from water stations in the parks was satire.
Obama having cops lock the bathrooms in parks, and turn away a FREE truckload of porta potties was satire.
Satire seems to have a new definition these days, if you know what I mean.
From their FB page:
Retraction from Paul Joseph Watson is as follows:[10/10/13 Demonstrators under the banner of Truckers Ride for the Constitution will arrive in DC tomorrow morning to snarl traffic as part of a shot across the bow that will ripple across all branches of government. 10,000 truckers are expected to continually circle the Beltway for three days, taking up two lanes and keeping a third clear to allow access for emergency vehicles.
The group said speculation that the National Guard would block the Beltway was inaccurate, stating, The Virginia State Police are working closely with our organization and have assured us that no such orders to the National Guard exist.
This is about as sad as Obamas School Id thread was
This would be an ideal time for Dennis Hopper to show up with his cargo of robot soldiers from Space Truckers!
Not plausible, but very likely. I can’t see 0bama sitting back and letting this happen.
