Despite the fact that the average federal employee earns $123,000 (2010 numbers) in salary and benefits while the average private sector employee earns $61,000, my sympathy goes out to those who have found themselves on the sidelines because of Barack Obama and Harry Reid’s shutdown. Despite the fact that they will likely get all of their backpay and perhaps a bit more, it’s always difficult to see people have their finances thrown into chaos. Nonetheless, big government is a cancer on productivity, and while a million federal employees are feeling the pinch of this impasse, tens of millions of Americans are feeling the pinch of no jobs, reduced hours and losing their healthcare because of big government and ObamaCare. Viva la shutdown!
The old saying goes: “Sometimes you have to break some eggs in order to make an omelet.” In this case a more appropriate characterization might be “Sometimes you have to break some eggs in order to put on a banquet.” Given that federal regulations are so costly to American businesses – and consequently to Americans themselves – the extended furlough or firing of the apparatchiks employed to enforce government regulations would allow for a resurgence of economic activity, leading to a return of American prosperity. According to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, federal regulations will cost Americans $1.8 Trillion this year or about $14,000 per household. How would you like to have an extra $14,000 per year to spend? Well, let’s be generous and suggest that 25% of the government’s regulations are both Constitutional and worthwhile. That would mean that the bonus would only be $11,500 per year. How much of a jolt do you think you could give your community if you and every one of your neighbors had an additional $1,000 a month to spend? I guarantee you it’s a lot more than an omelet.
This shutdown is 100% owned, lock, stock and barrel by Barack Obama and the Democrats. As wasteful as most of the government spending is, the House passed a bill that would fund every single piece of it other than Obamacare. The Senate rejected that and the President promised to veto it if it made it to his desk. They can whine as much as they want about obstructionism, but the fact is that they can have everything they want other than something that a majority of Americans don’t want. Cry as they might, the spilled milk has their fingerprints all over the bottle.

My friend’s hubby is a civilian employee at JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson) as a supervisor of training facilities. He was furloughed and was returned to work the other day with the 400,000 ordered back. The catch is that he can’t get his back pay until he signs up for Ocare. He has a wife and two children at home.
Won’t be long before Team Barry drags out the dusty ‘War on Women’ signs to get the estrogen stirred into a frenzied love fest for 0bama. It works EVERY time, as it did right before the 2012 election. How does a ‘War’ instantly appear then just as quickly go away like that?

Maybe its a poker face but he acts and talks like he thinks this will be a big win for him, that the GOP will get all the blame, that they will settle for next to nothing, a fig, then they will self destruct going after each other and he will pick up seats in 2014. DADA

The average Government employee who works for Government is not responsible for the regulations they have to enforce.
Those regulations come from people higher up in the food chain. Speak to many Government employees and they will agree with you that a regulation is bad, but they have to enforce it anyway.
The regulation that hurts you probably also hurts them.
Its isn’t the Government employee at blame , but the bureaucracy they work for.
The Obama Bureaucracy has been a disaster.
Why do democrats trust government so much?
The democrat voters trust government cause they see everything working . but they don't understand that private businesses are what are making things run. Private businesses have to produce a good product to attract customers. a private business like t-mobile, subway, Google, or toyota has to produce a good product . so they have to work and no one has to watch them. but government is a different story. IRS, EPA, and those in the 1000s of other gov agencies don't have to work or do anything as no one is watching over them. voters aren't watching what the IRS goons or the UN goons are doing. and even if there is a smart and good person in government as in teacher that is trying to teach even they can't teach students how to read in the government schools because government/socailism can never work. look at freidman, Hayek and your common sense to understand why

A messiah who not responsible for anything that goes wrong in his presidency, like the bad economy etc, that is the fault of those who ‘want him to fail’ or Bush.
I don’t see him as being scared at all. Look at how he’s going out of his way to make people miserable over the shutdown, which is as childish and transparent as you can get — but he knows there are enough low-information types and a sycophantic media that will make sure the blame all falls on the Republicans.
Show me some poll numbers that are just the opposite of what we have today and I’ll show you a scared Barack Obama.
I am starting to see little stories (ala sequester aftermath prep stories) that are now saying NOTHING WILL HAPPEN ON OCT 18.

One would think MD would have by now cleansed itself of the liberal embarrassment of having elected Spiro T. Agenew as governor in 1966. Of course, many no longer remember Agnew, who was actually more liberal in 1966 than his Democrat opponent. People in MD have elected no one good since Agnew, oddly.
He is not scared. He has his executive order for martial law in place and can invoke it at any time he sees fit.
