To: Kathy in Alaska

I was stationed in Alaska at Fort Wainwright for 2 years in the mid 80’s. My unit was the 283rd Medivac, we had Hueys UH-1H helicopters. Did once a month TDY at Fort Greely. At the time Fort Greely was sparce for facilitys but flying around Fort Greely and Big Delta was breath taking. Fort Greely did have an area near the airfield where Japanese prisoners were kept, barbed wire enclosures, and was a great trail to take on snow mobile.
