Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker has decided not follow Washington's order to close several state parks that receive federal funding during the shutdown.
State officials say Wisconsin provides more than half of the parks' funding, so they can be kept open with state money, The Hill reports.
The federal government allotted Wisconsin $701,000 for its state parks in fiscal 2013, which ended Sept. 30.
The state also has opted to disobey a Fish and Wildlife Service order to forbid hunting and fishing on federal lands. State officials said hunting can continue in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, according to The Hill.
Walker instructed his cabinet to "streamline things and make sure services are available," Wisconsin's Natural Resources Secretary Cathy Stepp told The Hill.
"It was his direction that let me pursue this further to find out what rights do we have from the state’s perspective regarding contract language and long-standing agreements, and is there something that we’re legally grounded to do," Stepp said.

We need to get rid of the concept of Federally owned or managed land. Make it all private. The sales would go toward reducing debt.

Money is fungible. The funds disbursed during the shut down are not Federal funds.
They got all the states to give up their claims to anything west of certain lines...which the states did. It was beneficial to just a few "land barons".
The states ought to seize control of the federal parks within their borders. The land belongs to THE PEOPLE.

Obama is nothing but the head thug in a greater thugocracy known as the Federal government.
This government is at war with the citizens.
The requests for Dick Cheney to deliver the refusal may strain the poor man’s heart.

My sister called this morning from Madison. Her husband and five sons are planning a hunting gathering up north in Wisconsin this weekend. One son is flying in from Colorado.
She told me her family were upset with Obama over the closing of the parks. So, I told her that Walker had ordered the parks to say open in Wisconsin. One of her sons decided to verify this and he called the government to check on it. He was told that they can hunt on the land, but there would not be any federal workers available in case of an emergency. Nor would the bathroom facilities be open. So their weekend father-sons bonding hunt is on!
I like that idea. I’ll hang it up in my garage.

The shutdown is nothing more than a vindictive act by a Chicago thug that’s mad because he can’t have his way.
And, I agree, all Federal lands and parks, excluding military bases, should revert back to the respective states, shutting down for good the NPS, USFS, and BLM, followed by a furlough of all federal workers and bureaucrats within these agencies.
