The Pisgah Inn, a private hotel that holds a concession on the Blue Ridge Parkway, has become a national sensation as it defies "intimidation" and a National Park Service order to close its doors.
After a tumultuous few days, inn owner Bruce O'Connell told The Washington Times on Friday morning that he had just reopened his doors for customers, despite the park service telling him he had to shut down. He says he's essentially private property, on a road that's still open, and uses no government personnel, so he sees no reason to quit operating

The NPS is blocking the entrances to their parking lot.
As you stated we can't link to the Cit-times but here's the URL to the story that can be copied and pasted.

Can you update the title to link #41, please? These folks are standing up their rights!
WOW!!! This thing is crazy. I kind of understand the guy wavering. It IS scary when the men with guns are come at you.

On Hannity now.
On Hannity - he’s open. Park police blocking gates.
I agree, even the comments under the article show a distinct change in attitude. Comments about getting out and about, taking back OUR lands, states rights....
The longer this goes on the more people begin to realize just how much centralized control exists in our country. Think about this...you can't even go to a park without government supervision.
It could turn into quite a mess up there as the word gets out locally if enough people decide to support him by heading up there for a good meal in their very nice restaurant. It wouldn't surprise me in the least...
I wonder if he has a 5th amendment illegal takings argument that he can make.
If this is a private business on a road kept open because it's deemed a "commerce route," then the forced closure of his "commerce" by the feds is a de facto illegal taking of his private property.

I recall the “We Still Pray” from a few years back.
Amazing article you cited. I wonder how much money the Park Service is spending to try and keep this business closed? This inn keeper is now toast with the NPS. His concessionaire contract will not be renewed and may be revoked so he might as well go all in along with the local residents who support him. The police line needs to be breached by a large number of peaceful visitors who intend to have lunch, stay in the lodge or whatever. The NPS will reprise so there need to be large numbers just like the left does with their myriad aggrieved demonstrations.
It would be a terrible shame if the rangers were still blocking the entrance to the parking lots when the crowds arrived and if people just abandoned their cars and hiked in to the Inn for lunch or even the view, wouldn't it? It might unfortunately shut the road down and cause a real jam up. The rangers would have a terrible mess on their hands, wouldn't they?
Just like "We Still Pray"...
The sheer idiocy of is is that the fedgov receives a portion of his daily proceeds.
They will arrest, sue, harass, and drive into bankruptcy, and not blink an eye. Won’t cost them a dime, it’ll all be on the taxpayers’ dime.
How close is it to Asheville?
FYI...
I sent Mr. O’Connell a short note of encouragement... the hit counter after sending was at 1,456,699.
