House GOP whip Kevin McCarthy said the House will send a third government-funding bill with a few other options if the Democratic-controlled Senate rejects the bill passed in the House last night, as expected.
We will pass a bill . . . that will keep the government open, that will reflect the House, that I believe the Senate can accept, that will have fundamental changes to Obamacare that can protect the economy for America, McCarthy said on Fox News Sunday.
The remarks confirm National Review Onlines reporting yesterday that House leadership is considering an eleventh-hour play like passing a clean continuing resolution (CR) with language added to end a subsidy for congressional staffers to purchase health insurance.
McCarthy said there are a lot of items on the table in discussions about which provision to add to an otherwise clean CR.
From discussions with rank-and-file Republicans late into the evening last night in the Capitol, its clear the plan will run into some resistance from the GOP conference. The closed-door meeting where Speaker John Boehner announced the latest plan turned into something of a pep rally, producing a unified conference ready to charge into battle with Obama. Boehner did not mention the next step to his strategy to his members, and at least most of them did not appear to anticipate he would be going in that direction.
On two occasions in the past several weeks, GOP leadership has unveiled a plan only to see conservatives quickly defeat it, prompting questions over whether that could happen again as leadership prepares a culled-down third volley to send to Reid.

LOL Hey..show me your cards.
I hear ya, brother.
How does Australia look? Do you think they'd give us a chunk of the outback for a "New America"?
Well, I was thinking of, “If you’re gonna shoot, shoot! Don’t talk!”, but your comment works every bit as well. 8^)
What would be hysterical would be if Cruz got up to speak in the Senate, and started reading from one of those guides to negotiations. There are lots to choose from, just one that has a short explanation of some of the key dos and don'ts. He could interrupt himself periodically to explain how Republicans are doing it wrong.
The days when they might get away with that are over.

Any type of 11th hour clean CR acceptable to Reid would mean we conservatives got totally played the past few weeks. It would mean Boehner was just running out the clock and trying to take the heat off with his phony defund CR bills.
Just an idea
Allow Obama Care to operate for 6 months or 1 year
and if at the end of that year it does everything Obama promised ....it stays for 1 more year ....if on the other hand it is not what was promised to the American people it is automatically repealed
Specific quantifiable criteria should be implemented
And it is operates only on this trial basis for 5 or 10 years.
That was Pat Buchanan's idea last week. Reid can't refuse to fund the soldiers, right? Reid can't refuse to fund the diplomats, right?
That's not a cave. Instead of sending a bill that omits Obamacare, send separate bills for everything that is acceptable.

Dang if I can find it, but the story I read about 3 a.m. this morning linked on BadBlue said this ....
The House is prepared to send the next volley back with the exemption for congress members covered by Obamacare to be stricken. The Vitter Amendment ...
Therefore, making Reid look as though he will be trying to defend the chosen class if he strikes it down.
I hope I worded that so that it makes sense. I’ve read the suggestion of doing exactly that very thing many times on many threads here at FR.
I will continue to search my history for the link.
Its creators designed Obamacare to fail. It’s engineered for failure, because it was never about healthcare. It’s a trojan horse, designed to bring an entire nation to its knees.
Ok, found it ...

It is all too much anymore. It seems that so very few politicians care a crap about principles, morals, values or our individual rights and freedom as outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. They care about power and control. Vote them out.
mccarthy thinks hell replace boehner...scum attracts scum
I don't think so. The front pages of CNN and Politico and everywhere else are filled with headlines saying the Dems are happy to force a shutdown.
So be it.
We're fixing to be screwed folks...........Again.
I do it everyday, I fix commercial kitchen equipment it restaurants. When I give the owner a price, say, $500.00 and they ask for a better price. My answer is, okay $550.00.
When they react, I say well it's a better price for me!
Then they say oh okay $500 and I say no, the price is now $550.
Now it's Friday afternoon and they need their pizza oven working, they are pissed but they pay it and they never try that with me again.
