HARTFORD — A police officer's gun accidentally discharged during a response to an armed robbery on Franklin Avenue on Saturday, and an officer was shot in the arm, police said.
It was not clear whether the officer whose gun discharged was shot, or another officer. The injury to the officer's forearm is non-life threatening, police said.
The officers were responding at about 9:30 p.m. to a report of an armed robbery at the Subway restaurant at 465 Franklin Ave.

After all LEO's are the pros when handling guns ...right ?
In all the years have I have owned guns, never once did I come home and found one of them had discharged accidentally...

There really are versions of AR shotguns on the market and they are in great demand.
This from "Guns America" website:
"If there is a must have product at SHOT 2012, it is the Akdal MKA 1919 semi-auto shotgun, exclusively imported in the US by RAAC. It looks like an AR-15, but it is a super-sized version made for 12 gauge shotgun shells in both the 2 3/4″ and 3″ size."
If you search by "AR shotgun", you'll find a LOT of info.
Now, was that what was used in many, if any of the articles written by ignorant reporters? Doubtful.
There aren't that many of them out there yet.
