SALEM, Ore. A Salem homeowner pulled a gun on an intruder Saturday morning and held him until officers arrived, police said.
Just after 6 a.m., Dan Strasser awoke to find an intruder in his home trying to make off with a laptop, so he yelled at his girlfriend to bring him his gun.
I figured a skunk or squirrel got into the house because I have a door that I keep cracked for her to go in and out of, Strasser said, talking about his dog.
The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Thomas Lowell, then ran into the garage where Strasser cornered him.
Lowell then pulled out a knife and threatened Strasser but dropped it once he saw the gun, police said.

Sad story.
Too bad the intruder wasn’t shot.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight.

"Never bring a knife to a gun fight." Nothing wrong with bringing one. But you had best bring a gun, too. I do.

Liberals would rather an innocent person be murdered than defend himself or herself with a firearm. So much for liberal compassion.

For a second, I thought he was talking about his girlfriend.

English authorities would rather that an innocent citizen be murdered than that he defend himself by any means at all. To a philosophical crime is just the results of bad upbringing and oppressive society that makes people crazy and desperate so they rob and kill and it is not their fault. Self defense is a rational act and therefore the self defender makes a choice to injure an innocent oppressed person. It is therefore evil. Committing self-defense is far the greater offense.
It sounds absurd but I have had this argument with more than one academic liberal. It is what they believe.

I figured a skunk or squirrel got into the house because I have a door that I keep cracked for her to go in and out of, Strasser said, talking about his dog. I'm glad that was clarified. At first read, I thought he meant so his girl friend could go in and out.

Scissors cut paper
Paper covers rock
Rock crushes lizard
Lizard poisons Spock
Spock smashes (or melts) scissors
Scissors decapitate lizard
Lizard eats paper
Paper disproves Spock
Spock vaporizes rock
Rock breaks scissors
And gun still beats knife - thanks for the Big Bang cheer up.
