LIVE Thread: Senate cloture vote. Guess the number of RINOs that vote to support "Dingy" Harry
C-span 2

Posted on 09/27/2013 6:59:01 AM PDT by ken5050

Senate just came into session. Happily, Dingy Harry is sparing us any commentary early on this morning, as is McConnell. Debate goes until 12:10, at which time there is 30 minutes reserved for majority and minority leaders , then the vote. Will there be any more GOP intramural fireworks on the senate floor?

You would have made a great aid to Josef Gerbbles or Tokyo Rose. By your reasoning Germany and Japan won World War 11.

The Republican Party, unlike you realizes that once the freebies of obamacare kick in, there is no way under the sun the sheep will stand for it being repealed. It will be what Social Security was to the senior citizens.

Yes, and I heard that, too, but the vote total didn’t change.
I’m waiting to see the verified Senate vote.

My other senator, Wicker, was an “aye” vote, and it would be very odd for Cochran to go lone wolf.

Here are some of the GOP senators who voted to support cloture: WASHINGTON, September 27, 2013 — The Senate has successfully voted in support of cloture on a bill that defunds Obamacare, moving the legislation forward in the Senate. Following that vote, the Senate also voted in the affirmative on an amendment to fund ObamaCare, and the continuing resolution with this funding passed.

“he Republican Party, unlike you realizes that once the freebies of obamacare kick in, there is no way under the sun the sheep will stand for it being repealed. It will be what Social Security was to the senior citizens.”

And the GOP wants that, Or they would do everything to stop it.

The woman said she completely understood but that Senator Boozman believed he should vote yes.

Unbelievable!! And Boozman is a Republican in Arkansas??

Why does Arkansas vote in so many democRATs and RINOs? I admit I've never been there (yet), but I don't get why AR is so different from its neighbors: TX, OK, MS, TN...

You can’t expect much from a state that gave us Bill Clinton, Jim Guy Tucker and Mike Huckabee. It is no Oklahonma, Kansas or Texas that is for sure.

Thanks... good to know Sen. Toomey is still a Patriot...

He is not. He votes for tax increases and sponsors gun control bills. He voted to save is job, that is all. Arlen Toomey is a fraud.

I need an explanation on this. If the final vote on Reid’s ‘clean’ bill was 54-44, does that mean that IF Cruz had been successful on the NO for cloture forcing Reid’s vote a 61 vote threshold, Cruz would have won?

"We HAVE to fight fire with fire, call them bullies, control freaks, dictators, communists, use buzzwords, force, control, impose.

We just stand there and say 'hit me again' without any blowback. No wonder the American people don't know what to think.

------------------------------------>

Good ideas! Humiliate them as much as possible - do it loudly and as often as possible AND WITH LOVE! Work from grass roots level up to presidential level. We've got to expose them.

I've been working on my die hard liberal sister and brother-in-law and have had some success. Working on my liberal brother and his wife, too.

It is time to double down on all four on them what with 2014 right around the corner. Educate yourselves now - it isn't too late.

Time to play "Who says or said this?"

Give quotes (" "we have to pass the bill so we can find out what is in the bill") like the type and person of question and let them guess who made the comment.

I can get the exact wording from FreeRepublic, YouTube, etc. because anything less would look like trickery and we are better than that.

They take their lies and misrepresentations to the street - we have to take truth to do the same.

Also, can give audio only and prove that what you are referring to is correct - "clean". Mother in law still refuses to believe Pelosi's comment on 'passing the bill to find what is in the bill' remark. So, I will show her online to YouTube etc. Walking on eggs with m-i-l. She likes to "debate" but mostly it is ad hominem attacks and loudness to drown everyone else out in the "debate".

I do know that when a liberal says something they think is dirt on Repubs. just ask them for attribution because you want to study up. Always have attribution for whatever you say.

Ask them enough questions and they go berserk. Excuse yourself - that hips and right knee are seizing up. Actually this is true so I'm not lying!

Gives them time to stew enough and time enough to check Internet to "prove" me right or wrong. If they get reasonable, believable info you'll never hear again anything about what the argument was.

If you've gotten this far, I applaud you for letting me vent. Also back to bedrest and the meds are kicking in. I'll read this opus later, forgot I posted it and say to myself: Self, you need to get a grip! Thanks again and "I will hang up on myself now."

I had such high hopes for her and for the state of New Hampshire...

Please let it go...Red Hampshire is filthy with Mass and NY communists and marxists...the conservatives are on their way out or are already gone. There was a conservative running against Ayotte in the primary (DeMint endorsed him), but Sarah came to town and campaigned for Ayotte. Ayotte won a razor-close primary...Sarah's biggest mistake. The few conservatives still stuck here knew she was bad news...just another Snowe and Collins.

It may not be a good idea, but I will not vote for Cornholio in the general if he is not successfully primaried.

THANK ALL Y’ALL FOR YOUR UNTIRING EFFORTS TO HARASS AND SOON REPLACE OUR SORRY “GOP SENATORS.”

LET US ENDEAVOR TO CAUSE OUR SORRY GOP SENATORS TO GROW EVEN MORE “INCREASINGLY IRRITATED.”

THE NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY WAS BORN ON THE US SENATE FLOOR WHEN SENATOR TED CRUZ BEGAN HIS 21 HOUR INSPIRATIONAL FILIBUSTER.

WE IN THE NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE IN HIS DEBT.

THIS IS JUST ONE OF MANY BATTLES TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE.

WE WILL PREVAIL !

54-44 final vote.

Along party lines?

Who were the two senators who didn’t vote?

Likely the same two senators who were absent during the cloture vote.

Yep.
The cloture vote ended debate and gave Reid the simple majority of needing only 51 votes on all further measures/bills offered.
