On Morning Joe Thursday morning, Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) tepidly praised Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his symbolic filibuster, before severely criticizing his intellectually dishonest tactics to defund ObamaCare that Coburn said were misleading Republican voters.
Im finishing up nine years in the Senate, Coburn said. Nobody has a higher conservative rating than I do. Im now no longer a conservative according to the standards that have been set by the expectation of this process.
Im getting all sorts of e-mails from people that supported me, because they have been misled about whats possible. Coburn said. Do people not think if I could change ObamaCare, Id do it in a minute?

Sen. Cruz said they discuss symbolic votes (designed, of course, to keep the unwashed from an uprising). We suspected as much, but now it’s out there because Sen. Cruz decided to Go Rogue and went off script.
The blatant honesty of the Palins and Cruzes is why the establishment will go out of it’s way to destroy them...and anyone or any group that supports them.
Speaking of the Tea Party, where are we in the investigation of the IRS abuses?
Ant...Rubber Tree plant!!!
Sorry Tom, you just arent a wartime consiglieri. Time to step aside for the new young turks.
If you go on MSNBC to whine, then you outed yourself, Tom.
(I don't watch MSNBC but I'm curious to know how many RINO-e's went on to complain. Anyone know?)
If he’s such a conservative what’s he doing on MSNBC?
They first have to make sure anyone who had anything to do with it gets immunity. Then we can have hearings till the next election.
I submit anyone supporting amnesty is not conservative by a long shot. Ala Rubio.
And I wouldn’t bet against you.
Although Karl probably did the actual deed, I’m sure he had plenty of anonymous backing.
How awesome to have been there in that period to witness that historic moment of our country’s history. I’m not giving up on this country nor should anyone. The spirits of our founders and patriots back then stills flows in us. Eventually she is now waking up.
You’re not a conservative.
I called his local Tulsa office and believe me Freepers I gave them an earful. I told him not to ever again go on MSNBC and trash a fellow Republican. I can’t go into all details...but I took no B.S, and he could not name one time where Democrats go on TV and trash fellow Democrats, especially on Fox. I was on fire and they knew it, tried to tell me he voted for cloture after wasting time on a so-called filibuster, I didn’t buy it and got him to admit it was the vote to proceed to debate. Okay...I guess I did go into details...I was hopping mad, gotta run now.
I know Coburn isn’t politically popular with conservatives right now, but he actually does have a very good voting record. He’s also been a very staunch opponent of excessive government spending. It seems his biggest flaw is he’s a nice guy who naively believes the Democrats can be convinced to do the right thing. That’s delusional, because Democrats (and many Republicans) spent decades building the beast in D.C. They are simply not going to help Coburn dismantle any of it. Compromise has only gotten us more government.
He’s a damn doctor. If anyone should be fighting the good fight, you’d think it would be Coburn!
“Nine years in the Senate is long enough. Thank you for leaving , Tom.”
Actually, he was quite conservative during his first six years. Of course during that time he also said he only intended to serve one term.
Apparently things change - rarely for the better!
As you pointed out, Coburn is a very reliable conservative vote. I think he tries to be polite and respectful to other people, including Democrats. He doesn’t seem to understand that Democrats are tearing apart our civil society by the way they use government to browbeat opposition. I cannot be nice, for example, to people who want to fundamentally transform America into a socialistic state. Regardless, I don’t think Coburn deserves the treatment he’s getting here. Again, he’s a dependable conservative who truly wants to cut government.
Who said he was a conservative in the first place?
For him to use msnbc as a forum for whining, says all you need to know about him.
He ranks right up there with posters on FR who thinks they are being righteous and important when they post...’I am leaving Free Republic because...’ and deserve the same treatment they recieve.
I’m so sick of these hacks. If they stopped sitting around saying “we can’t win” and actually tried to win, maybe they would at least some of the time. Even that team that plays the Harlem Globetrotters won a game once.
Peter King is another RINO going on MSNBC to denounce Cruz...
Peter King also supported Romney and bashed Gingrich early in the primary...
Peter King also supported NSA spying and said Edward Snowden should be executed...
These guys are not conservatives. They’re the same RINOs that are pushing losing candidates that cause Obama to win easily. Then they denounce any tactic that might get rid of Obamacare. They need to switch their affiliation to D and stop the charade.
