Police have enlisted the help of a trapper to round up a group of feral hogs scaring residents of a subdivision in suburban Atlanta.
Some parents fear sending their children to a school bus stop in the Lithonia area, where up to four of the hogs are roaming the streets and eating trash in front yards.
Authorities hope the hogs can be trapped in cages by Wednesday morning, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.
Theyre causing quite a stir to say the least, Parish said shortly before noon Tuesday, as she headed out to the neighborhood, about 17 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
The police departments animal control officers were at the scene, but the plan was for a volunteer trapper to actually capture the animals.

Those children going to the bus stops should be armed with pellet guns to fend off the wild hogs, right?

Gee, you’d think in the South some good ol’ boys would’ve pulled the rifle off the rack of the pickup and fixed the problem already. Especially a free pork dinner right there in the front yard!
But... Atlanta has way too many Yankees who would freak out if they saw a regular citizen with a firearm in Suburbia.
Here in rural Alabama a firearm is just another tool. My neighbors would no sooner freak out over a firearm than they would with me wielding my rake, weed-whacker or hoe.

Do the hogs in question have razorbacks?

Yes, they do. But it is a bit dangerous to discharge a firearm in a subdivision.

I think the big hogs are difficult to bring down with even a 5.56 unless hit in a vital organ.
On the other hand, this is a good argument for a 30 round mag.
