I think they’ve done the political math from their perspective and decided that what conservatives want doesn’t matter. They think that conservatism at the national level is on the ropes...and in that, they may well be proven right. Demographics are clearly not in our favor. They also believe that by controlling the media they control the message. And they may be proven largely correct in that as well. So, they’re rolling the dice and assuming they’ll be the last ones left standing.
What their too-smart-by-half calculus fails to consider is that the uniparty and it’s cronies don’t control the whole message, they don’t control all of the media, and more importantly, when people see that there is no way to redress their grievances at the national level, they will go to where they think those grievances will be addressed. In this case at the state level. That also happens to be where conservatives/tea partiers are most strong.
There are different ways the states can go about that addressing of grievances, but I think the most likely (and dangerous) way that will manifest itself over time is in a push for secession in various states.
