Why not just say:

"We respect and follow the laws of the states, counties and cities where we do business"

and be done with it?

I spend a lot of money. One thing I refuse to buy is Starbucks coffee.

I may spend a lot, but I’m not stupid with it.

Overpriced and ridiculous. Besides, I just like it black.

Hey, those stores are private property. It’s his call.

If he wants to telegraph to every junkie street thug out there that it’s open season for holdups in his stores, that’s his business.

Can’t stand Starbucks .... don’t like the coffee or the stores. Unfortunately, my SIL gave me $30 worth of gift cards for Starbucks ... I could scream. I’ve been there twice and walked out with nothing .... I think I’m going to have to return the gift cards.

I think the next time I see a plainclothes cop in my usual Starbucks (just a few blocks from the police station) I will politely tell the manager that ‘that person with a gun is making me nervous’.

This is the act of a company that wants to stay out of politics and sell coffee. They aren't interested in controversy, they don't want drama, they just want to sell coffee to people who carry guns and people who don't carry guns.

For all of us who just wished that this or that corporation would stick to business and stay off the soapbox, this is exactly what we asked for. I have no problem with it.

Thugs, bring your guns to Starbucks, no one will stop you.

Starbucks sucks. They over roast their beans. McDonalds has better coffee for less money. Let them be a gun free zone and give some nut job another target site.

This is all because libtard agitators create a big scene about being “scared” or “offended” if someone is open carrying. I have to cut Starbucks some slack here - they want to sell coffee to as many customers as possible, not be involved in a political battle.

Howard should have urged those with knives to stay away, given what has gone on in his home town of Seattle the last few weeks — with mental cases stabbing and killing innocents who happen to be walking down the unsafe streets there.

The bottom line is that Starbucks does not want a horse in this race. Their policy is that they prefer customers to not bring guns to their store, but that their store managers and employees are to do nothing about it. They are not to complain to customers, withhold service, scowl, nothing.

And, if those with guns, *or* those who object to guns, become unruly, then they are to call the cops. But only then.

The bottom line is that if you want to take a gun into a Starbucks, fine. But they don’t want you to do so as a “statement”.

Truthfully, I don’t see much wrong in this policy, because it leans towards “no soliciting”. Their business is to sell coffee and coffee-like byproducts, not to be a platform for political arguments.

Caffeine drops my slow fire 25 yd pistol scores under 96. A good reason to avoid coffee anywhere. Starbucks stuff upsets my stomach anyway. No problem staying away.

Once again, a "reporter" shows his/her ignorance:
Most states allow people to openly carry licensed guns in some way and many companies do not have policies banning firearms in their stores.
Most states allow licensed people to carry concealed, and a FEW states allow open carrying of firearms. But most states absolutely do NOT allow people to openly carry.

Representatives for Peet's Coffee & Tea and Whole Foods, for example, said there haven't been any problems with enforcing their gun bans.

They don't enforce gun bans. They rely on voluntary compliance by law-abiding citizens. They have absolutely ZERO means of enforcing their cute little feel-good gun bans on the people who would use a gun to harm others.

Apparently the CEO of a Coffee company has no idea how many cops visit his establishment, both in and out of uniform. He needs to visit some stores more often...

They have no problem supporting and wading into homosexual unions, even going so far as to endorse via monetary support, but want to remain neutral on the gun issue. I think they should sell coffee and be quiet on everything else.

When a merchant goes OUT OF HIS WAY to insult someone like me, I try my best to avoid enriching that merchant. I’d been buying Starbucks ground coffee but will now find a substitute.
