It is our duty to stop stuff like this.
Guyer High School (and obviously several others) are complicit in attempting to condition students to interpret the 2nd Amendment in a clearly opposite manner in which it was intended. The 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th are also misinterpreted as several commentators below pointed out.
This textbook, currently being used by Guyer High School, is attempting to redefine the Second Amendment to impressionable young minds. Parents, you must speak up and demand action. Investigate your child's history book ASAP, and post more pictures in the comments below. Call your school and demand that revisionist history books like this are removed from the school district.
Textbook version: "The people have a right to keep and bear arms in a state militia."
Actual 2nd Amendment: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Did you catch the sleight of hand?
A militia is a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies. It's a common man army of citizens, NOT soldiers. The citizens are called up in emergencies to protect the free State.
The 2nd Amendment says that a militia is necessary to protect a free State, so in order to be able to have a militia, the citizens have a natural right to keep and bear arms and the government cannot infringe on that right.
The textbook version implies that we're only allowed to keep and bear arms if we're in a State militia, a clear misrepresentation of the 2nd Amendment.
Your Call to Action:
1. Call Guyer High School and tell the appropriate person something like the following:
"Hello, my name is _______________. I saw that your AP History course has issued a book titled, United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination. In this book, on page 102, the definition provided for the Second Amendment is incorrect and seems to be suggesting that only members of a State Militia are allowed to keep and bear arms. Who made the decision to use this text book? I'd like them to issue a public statement on this book's attempt to redefine the 2nd Amendment and why they chose to use it. We would also like this issue to be discussed at the next school board meeting. Please include it on the official agenda."

School Board Meeting
Tuesday, September 24, 2013 6:00 PM
The Denton ISD Board of Trustees will be meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the Board Room at the Dennis Stephens Central Services Building. For more information please contact Kim Stevenson, administrative assistant to the superintendent, at (940) 369-0002.
3. Inspect your child's history book and photograph other instances of intentional misrepresentations. Post pictures and blog about these occurrences. Demand your school districts regain control of their curriculum.
4. Share this story with your friends, family, and media connections to raise awareness.
UPDATE:
Just got off the phone with Kim Stevenson, Admin to the Superintendent.
1. Board members will not address any speaking on an item that is not part of the official agenda.
2. A community member could not add an item to the agenda.
3. You must sign in at Kim's desk in order to speak. You can speak up to 2 times and for 3 minutes. If a large number of us are attending we can assign a person to be our spokesperson and they may possibly give that person extra time.
The state adopts the textbooks every couple of years. She advised that besides attending next week's board meeting that we also speak with Darrell Muncy, Director of Student Services or speak with someone in the curriculum department.
Why did the text book feel the need to “summarize” the Second Amendment? It is after all only one sentence long, how much more succinct do they feel it needs to be?
This ends one of two ways.....either with the death of freedom and America
as it was intended or it ends with the death of the Marxists and the idiots
that worship them. The government, educational system, media and large
parts of the military has been infiltrated, compromised, subverted and
perverted by evil people, people who WILL NOT SURRENDER.
The people in power spent decades organizing and committing the coup.
They aren’t’ going to step down, walk away or give up power.
Either we kill them or they kill and enslave us. There is no third option
now....all the peaceful means have been nullified.
The militia as defined in Federalist papers is... all of the able bodied (men at the time, but now women too) who can carry a firearm or bear arms. In short it is ALL of the people, who were considered to be necessary to a Free State.
Just like in Switzerland— every house has an automatic weapon— it has to. This country was meant to BE Switzerland.

NEVER bother talking to a school administrator (or an HOA board member, for that matter) - they're both rottener than rotten, and will lie right down to their last rotten breaths.
Save time, energy and money - just file suit.
I believe that TX has a commission that approves their own school books. Since I don’t live there, I’ve pinged basil - she might know.
Sure is!
TX is a main txtbook buyer for a reason. Easier to get the brain washing into the pipeline by having a few states be the gatekeeper. Keep an eye on the people who are on the committees that approve these books. They are all part of a nest of vipers.
Reason 216 to immediately remove your children from the government indoctrination centers [schools] and do the schooling on you own. Either by home schooling or enrolling your children in a quality private school.
The public school system is filling your childrens’ heads with mush. Like this bastardized version of the 2nd amendment.
They could be using a different text too.
I found the book:http://www.amazon.com/United-States-History-Preparing-Examination/dp/1567656609/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1379389237&sr=1-1&keywords=united+states+history+preparing+for+the+advanced+placement+examination
Can’t find publisher. working to find
Every kid in AP or any American history class should have, in their textbook, the exact Constitution as written. Why even change the words one bit? It serves to do nothing but prove a certain agenda is being pushed.
Last year, my daughter had a huge exam on Islam. We went through the chapters of her textbook and we talked about things that we disagreed with in the book. She was well prepared for the exam. The strange thing was, she took the exam and aced it, getting the highest grade in her class.
I looked over the test, which was prepared by a testing company, God forbid the teacher make her own exam! My daughter answered the Multiple Choice, T/F, and essay based on the truth, not what the textbook had said! So obviously the test supplied didn’t even agree with the text! No wonder kids aren’t learning! They put crap in the textbook and even when
they indoctrinate the kid with the information, they do lousy on the tests! Hey, but at least they come out indoctrinated, confused, failing students!
My daughter actually brought up to the teacher that some of her answers, including in the essay, disagreed with the text. The teacher “just be happy you did so well”. Insanity! For the kid left to rely on the text, bad grade but what was in the text!
BTW, it’s the same text they just had a problem with people complaining about in Florida. My daughter thought it was funny Florida described it as
a Senior year World History book, while here it was Freshman year book.
I said it shouldn’t be used in any grade, it’s not teaching you much of anything that is true!

Does anyone have a email address we can use?
Yes it it isn’t even a close call - the people who put this together are not accidentally leaving out words. They are treasonous vipers who must be exposed.
Parents: look at the books your kids are given and if you see this sort of crap go to the school board meeting and raise hell. Do not accept an answer of “we will look into it”. Ask who supports it and who is against it. Ask who let this happen? Ask directly, while looking at the board. Tell anyone who is not unequivocally on board, they will be run out of office and shamed publicly.
Texas ia, has been for decade, the testing ground for textbooks. If they fly there, they get released across the country.
This is much worse than you think...
Decades ago, when I was politically active, my organization was umbrellaed with others in my state and across the country - Mel & Norma Gable were vital in our fight against gov’t takeover of our schools and our homes.
I remember one history book, for example, published and ‘tested’ in Texas, the one one short. derogatory paragraph on George Washington and 5 1/2 pages of text and photos of - Marilyn Monroe. (This was the early 1980’s.)
Mel and Norma are gone now, but Mel left a method to use for detecting these anti-Americam rewrites/distortions;
“BEST STRATEGY
Texas is the most conservative big state that state-approves textbooks. Texas has national leverage on publishers. Texas’ all-elected State Board of Education responds more to citizens. To impact Texas, Mel left in place a long institutional past, unusually experienced reviewers, and highly specific goals.
“Different people reviewing different textbooks different years tend to draw less precise comparisons and reinvent the wheel. Mel left in place a very stable review staff, active each year for decades, to write consistent, increasingly in-depth reviews over repeated Texas textbook adoption cycles.”
This is where you go for guidance in combatting this insidious undermining of our children, our families, our traditions and our Constitutin.

To read about this dedicated couple and what they achieved -Question is, who is now carrying on this crucial oversight? Calls and emails to our reps doens't even scratch the srface - it's only the start. Where now are people like el and Norma?
As Madison put it, an extended rather than a consolidated Republic.
The federalization of public education continues. The districts now get their marching orders from DOEd.
Bkmrk for tomorrows phone call. Thanks.
The author, John M. Schmalbach, must be a buddy of the current regimen because he does not exist on the internet.
My eyes are about to roll out of my head.
My 1st daughter was so smart she about pissed every teacher and administrator off before she graduated HS. My other 2 were home schooled.
Thank you GOD !!!
