During an interview on CSPAN’s Book TV Sunday, “Barack Obama: The Story” author David Maraniss unveiled a photo of a young Barack Obama posing with his infamous pot-smoking “Choom Gang.”
“How much pot-smoking did the president do in Honolulu?” asked host Peter Slen.
“Well, you know, he writes about it in his book,” Marannis responded.
“He doesn’t write in particulars about the ‘Choom Gang.’ Ah, you know, the whole notion of Bill Clinton saying he never inhaled, well Barry said ‘that was the point, wasn’t it?’ when Jay Leno asked him about it. And, you know, some of my book — without going overboard — documents it pretty thoroughly,” he added.
“The ‘Choom Gang,’ that’s what they did,” Marannis said, referring to the gang’s love of “total absorption” (i.e. “hotboxing”). “That was part of his existence during that period.”

Thank God for that, He can mercifully erase things from our memory, or at least make it so they’re not up front all the time.
That picture destroys Obama’s narrative. His “choom gang” friends were a bunch of privileged white guys.
This is a distraction from the real problems in his past. If you disqualify every American from office that smoked pot as a youngster—or later for that matter—you’d have a problem getting candidates.
Democrats love for Republicans to chase rabbits down this hole because it makes us look like foolish grumpy old white men.
His yearbook dedication was to a local DRUG-DEALER “Thanks for all good times”.
OK, fine, but that guy was a local HOMO who got BEATEN TO DEATH.

This is what got me to post the photo. Barry can fool stoopid, indulged, race guilt tripped Americans with his speechifying but real world leaders like Putin and Assad and Iranian mullahs are strangely immune to it. They all came up the hard way
Exceppent point! I lived in HI and Punahou was where the white elites sent their children. A few non-haoles, but most with any Hawaiian blood went to Kamehamea. (sp?) Definitely a school for the wealthy.
It’s not a distraction at all. With Zero, EVERY SINGLE FREAKING thing in his life, past or present, should be under a damn microscope.
And it’s one thing to have smoked pot decades ago, but this freak was not a dilettante, he was a serious doper for years, and not just pot, and probably still is.

I’m not saying you’re wrong. You could be right. But the photo isn’t proof of any of your allegations.

That is absolutely the next question that should be asked. I think it was said that he got a "scholarship" but that's highly doubtful.
Anyone who smoked pot like he did obviously did other drugs. Maybe you didn’t - it sounds like you indulged - but every stoner I’ve known (and I’ve known quite a few being a child of the 60s) has gone on to LSD and coke.
