My Mother’s favorite song was “Beautiful Dreamer”. She was the best person I ever knew. So kind and gentle yet when forced to she had steel in her soul but it only came out when forced.
I was determined that would be sung at her funeral. Fortunately she had a first Cousin who has a beautiful tenor voice and he and the choir were both in fine form.
After the service a bunch of people told me and my siblings that it was the most beautiful service they had ever attended

Squrril Nut Zippers. “In the after life.”
In the after life....you could be headed for some serious
strife.
For the things you do today, could affect you in a serious
way....
One of my favorites.

Deep River.
My home is over Jordan.
Deep River, Lord,
I want to cross over into campground.
Oh, don't you want to go,
To the Gospel feast;
That Promised Land,
Where all is peace?
Oh, deep River, Lord,
I want to cross over into campground.

My issue with Norman Greenbaum is that his name just isn't very rock n roll. It's much more appropriate for a CPA or an ophthalmologist. I have the same issue with Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas, a '60's rock group. "Billy J. Kramer" sounds like a banker's name, and "the Dakotas" would be more fitting as the name a honky tonk band in Bismarck, Fargo or Pierre.
