The high price of ‘Milking the rich’
New York Post ^ | 09/02/2013 | Nicole Gelinas

Mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio has a tax plan that rivals call a political “fantasy.” It’s a fiscal dream, too. If de Blasio, the city’s elected public advocate, thinks New York can hike taxes on the rich and not suffer for it, he didn’t learn much from the 2008 crash. Gotham must become less dependent on the “top 1 percent” to be able to provide services to everyone in a downturn, not more.

De Blasio’s scheme is this: Hike income taxes by 13.8 percent on New Yorkers making above half a million dollars annually.

13.8%?!!! That’s all! How cruel and cold-hearted for the chilrun. I say make taxes 100% in NYC! It’s the compassionate thing to do!

de Blasio sounds like a typical economically clueless progressive fool (but I repeat myself).
Sadly, he has a good chance of getting in. The choices are de Blasio , Quinn (who's only qualification seems to be she married a chick) and Weiner.

Hello Mayor Dinkin's NYC!

Within the first term of any of these non-entities, I predict you'll see the return of the cesspool the city was in the 70s and 80s.

That ought to help New Jersey continue to attract Wall Street businesses and taxes......besides the view is better from the New Jersey side of the Hudson.

LOL! I think you nailed it!

The company I once worked for used to do quite a lot of business with New York.

One of the vendors told me the trash collectors were the most powerful force in New York. If the cops went on strike, people would just be more careful about staying out too late, where they went, etc. If the cab drivers went on strike, they'd take the subways. If the subways went on strike, they would take buses. If all three went on strike, they would carpool, bicycle, walk, use scooters & skateboards, etc.

But if the trash collectors went on strike, they had little recourse. There was one clever lady who bought a large roll of store wrapping paper from Sak's, gift wrapped her trash, set it in the back seat and left her car unlocked. It disappeared, of course, but the wrapping paper was getting expensive.

The city's life is numbered in days when the trash collectors go on strike.

They never teach Hauser in most institutions of higher learning. I have a graduate degree in economics and had to learn about Hauser on my own.

I asked one of the professors about it once. He gout a big smile on his face and said "Come and talk to me after class." So I did. He would not tell me outright, but I got the definite idea that mere discussion in class was strictly verboten. Of course, I asked for and got this guy on my orals committee.

Pretty sad, actually, when you consider that Hauser's Law has stood the test of time better than 99% of the economic theories out there. Plus, it is remarkably stable over time. Even the most extreme variance is within a +/- 2% range, generally far less.

Well, we wouldn’t want to mess up the indoctrination process with crazy things like FACTS, would we?

It has nothing whatsoever to do with economics. Leftists are emotionally attached to the concept of equality to the exclusion of all reasoning and all else. They would rather be in charge of hell if we were all miserable as long as we would all be equal in our misery. Of course, they always exempt themselves from the social engineering they impose on others. Fortunately they are not bullet proof. Nobody is..
