Racing news:
For Busch, no real choice but to move on
Truex will race with broken wrist (broken at Bristol)
Labonte breaks ribs, out for Atlanta
(did I beat umgud?)
Yup, ya beat umgud
Larson to the 42? JPM to?
Thanks for the ping. Missed all of last weeks festivities, including the race, due to travel to the midwest & NYC. Waved to ya as we flew over while going to Denver (from Oregon) then on to Omaha. NYC was a blast - eat, shop. museum (the Met) and Chicago - the play. Also had a stop in Charlotte, N.C. People talk funny there. It’s one thing to have certain NASCAR announcers with that obvious “twang” but I didn’t expect the 757 Captain to have it. He did - it doesn’t help that my hearing hasn’t been the same since Nam - couldn’t understand him. Anyway, busy sports weekend. College football starting, Sunday evening race. Life is good plus I’m home.
You think it will be Larson, not Newman? Do you have inside info?
Hey, you really may have waved to me. I am under the route that planes arriving from the West take as they are descending into Denver.
How long did you spend in NYC? We were only there for a couple of hours to see the WTC and eat a NYC bagel. We plan on going back. Well, we drove around NYC the day before we actually visited.
Can’t get NASCAR.com to work most of the time and it never works good when it does work. Jayskis is great for news and data.
Read today that the Hass part of Stewart-Hass signed KuBu as a fourth(?) driver...
Thank you for the link. Nascar.com is a bad joke, I quit going there 6 months ago.
Our third time to NYC. Stayed at the “W” on Times Square for 2 1/2 days. We normally stay for 5 days but the earlier midwest reunion cut our time short. I’m a country boy at heart but there’s a certain vibe and energy to NYC that is fun to experience. We walk most places but have used the subway or will take a taxi. We try to hit a play and have gone to the WTC memorial (must see) Statute of Liberty, museums and of course the Hells Kitchen restaurant area.

Newest Goodyear Eagle race tire features Multi-Zone Tread Technology to handle the challenging conditions of Atlanta Motor Speedway
i also have that link in the first post each week
i have to say i got a terrible negative vibe when i was there. we road amtrak into penn station, walked a few blocks for a bagel shop (amazing bagels) and hopped the sub to wtc memorial. but ppl were so “angry” i was kind of glad to leave.
but we have plans to eventually go back for a few days. it takes so long to get around you need the time. and i am a foodie, so i want to eat a lot of nyc stuff.
Penn Station is where all the Communists set up shop. Most of NYC is not quite that bad, but the crimminals have the run of the place. I have a CCW permit here, but in NYC had to take a heavy metal pen and pocket knife. I have been to NYC more times than I can remember. Many times doing communication system installs or problem fixes for equipment on the top floors of the highest buildings in the city. The equipment is in the elevator room on top floor along with the big water tanks for the fire systems. The antennas and towers are on the roof. The building supervisor usually had to unlock the door to the roof and then let us down at the end of the day. Things I remember....How cold it can be in February with 60 mph wind on the top of a skyscraper and how the ash from the boiler can hit you in the face when the antenna you are working on is attached to the chimney exhaust, how you get so dirty from elevator brake dust and when I see a picture of the NYC skyline I can spot many major buildings where I had to go to the bathroom on the roof. I never worked on the WTC roofs, but very close.
Think they will modernize it?
Ouch! He should have some good insurance though.
It probably had more to do with one, being a very rural person, the area is quite dense. Two, we didn’t have enough time. I have been on a quest to hit all 50 states, and this was a big NE swing for us where we hit all of the NE states and quite a few others and two Canadian provinces. So we will have to go back at some point.
