An escaped inmate was shot and killed Monday by an elderly couple he had been holding at gunpoint for around four hours.
Rodney Eugene Long, a dangerous prison escapee suspected of shooting and injuring a Taylor County deputy, broke into a couples home in Bedford, Iowa, at around 10:15 p.m. Monday night and held them for four hours, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Special Agent Mitch Mortvedt said during a news conference.
Jerome and Carolyn Mauderly said Long was armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Long, 38, also disabled the phones in the Maulderlys home as he apparently gathered supplies to aid his escape.
At around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jerome, 71, was somehow able to retrieve his shotgun and shoot the fugitive dead. The couple immediately called 911 and police responded to their home.

Honestly, I wouldn’t know where to start. Green-to-Green and Red-to-Red? Or vice versa?
Of course if they had VOIP, it’s an entirely different matter. Orange-to-Orange/White Stripe? It’s all so confusing.
I’m pretty sure you still need McGyver and belly button lint.
Authorities said the same thing about George Zimmerman.
Fortunately for the Mauderlys, there's zero chance the Schumers and Sharptons of this world will show up and pitch their tents on the corpse of an armed white prison escapee.
How sad this happened in their home, though. I can't imagine what it must be like to sit in your own kitchen after you shot a POS dead there. May they both live long enough to have peace and joy in their own home again.
That’s where common sense kicks in, which is why I stated that it would take an older person to fix it.
BTW, since it was cut, you would connect the same colors back together, just as they were before the cut.
It would probably be the Blue-White to Blue-White and then White-Blue to White-Blue, but that part doesn’t have to be known.
LOL! I heard that!
