President Obama has contributed to [Egypt's] descent into chaos by providing foreign aid to the military regime while maintaining an otherwise detached and abstract position, according to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who called for an end to financial support.
President Obamas detached and abstract statement yesterday on deteriorating conditions in Egypt is only the most recent manifestation of this administrations failed policy in that country, Cruz said.
As there can no longer be any reasonable doubt that what occurred in July was a military coup, the first step is to send an unequivocal message that the United States is a nation of laws and suspend aid to Egypt, he said.

Curious as to when Obama ever fought the MB. Seems to me he’s one of them.
Who is Obama to change the law? Seems to me there’s an entity for that Obama seeks every way possible to avoid.
“What AM I MISSING here? Arent the Egyptian military blowin away moozies? I dont see a need to stop them.”
I’m seeing what you’re seeing. Cruz wants the US to stop money going to the Egyptian army who are blowing away the Muslim terrorists.
I think we need more info here to determine if Cruz got bad advice from staff, his position was mis-reported by the press or he’s lost his mind.
Ted Cruz is an idiot and you can parse your intellectual position on the law all you want, he’s still an idiot. What matters here is that invoking this law aids the Muslim Brotherhood and that is most definitely NOT in the best interests of the USA.
What the hell is going on with the FReepers who don’t get this?
“How about we follow our laws, ahead of determining who is in power in what countries?”
What law? The criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington follows no law. If you haven’t figured it out yet, we are at war against the leftists in this country. There is no law in war. You want to follow the law? Go join a chess club. Law is for a peaceful society where everyone agrees to be bound by law. That situation does not exist at the present time.
Sigh....
Ted Cruz was pointing out that the LAW demands that we not give any aid to a country that is under a military coup. He was rubbing Obama's and the other Dims' faces in the blatant lawlessness that they have been committing against the People and the rest of the world. He has been consistent and truer to the Constitution than any I've seen since the Gipper.
There’s plenty of other things to tweak Obama on without delivering yet another country into the hands of the Neanderthal wing of islam.
I don’t mind rubbing Obama’s nose in something, but to oppose Obama for doing something we’d SUPPORT if a Republican were President is idiotic.
What the hell is going on with the FReepers who dont get this?
I do not know? What is wrong with you?
You expect reasonable, intelligent and consistent posts here?
At the rate we’re going FReepers will support partial birth abortion by Monday.
“What is wrong with you?”
Besides the nasty ear tick that’s bothering me?
(-:
“At the rate were going FReepers will support partial birth abortion by Monday.”
And some of them will act as if FR always did.
This country is in deep trouble and it isn’t all the fault of the democrats.
“This country is in deep trouble and it isnt all the fault of the democrats.”
You’re right.
Wow. If Cruz is not conservative enough for you I don’t know who could be.
There might be room to disagree over the best approach to the situation in Egypt, but Obama is disregarding the law on this and many more issues. It is not our job to fund every war on the planet. If our nation’s interest are at stake, then we might need to intervene militarily. But why are we throwing money down this hole?
If you are siding with Obama over Cruz you need to do a self-check. You are in the wrong reality.
Might be a bit of a fine point but I’m not really seeing coup, coo, koo, kook, whatever, here on the part of the Egypt army. I’m calling the takeover more of an “impeachment”. That’s what should happen when a leader violates the constitution he was elected under. Listening Obamuzzie?
If you are siding with Obama over Cruz you need to do a self-check. You are in the wrong reality.

Actually, Cruz is DE FACTO supporting Obama’s position in Egypt. No: Not according to the letter of the law regarding foreign aid following coups, but — rather — in the bottom line category of who the hell’s side are you on? — that of the lying, murdering, Christian-killing Muslim Brotherhood, or that of the current military-backed Government that has blocked the MB Brotherhood’s power grab and has even promised to rebuild Churches in Egypt that the MB has burned and vandalized in their demonic wrath at having been thwarted?
And, lest you say this is simply an issue for the Egyptians, please think again: The MB has — during the past two administrations — infiltrated the US Government to a shocking degree (something of which most FReepers may not even be aware). This means that, if the Egyptian Government checkmates the MB’s plans for a major power grab in Egypt, then, it is potentially helping reign in the MB’s plans to Islamize the US. (Yes: It CAN happen here.)
I certainly am not advocating US military involvement in Egypt, but I do advocate speaking up for the forces of Liberty, as well on behalf of persecuted Christians.
Here is a link to an piece listing churches burned/vandalized in recent days by the MB in Egypt:

Have you heard either Obama (or his administration) or Cruz speak out on behalf of Egypt’s (or Syria’s) persecuted Christians in recent weeks? Neither have I.
What the hell is going on with the FReepers who dont get this?

Good question. Problem is that they DON’T get it, apparently!

For some reason nobody seems to remember that 0bozo threw Mubarak under the bus and this lead to the current meltdown.
