Cruz notes that all our billions have gone for nought since the Egyptian people’s hatred of the United States is at an all time high.

A good leader can take a stand. Ted Cruz did this. Mr. Obama doesn’t.

He’s right.

Conservatives can flap their gums about Obama not Obeying the law but if we aren’t consistent about it, we’re nothing but hypocrites. The same can be said about all the whining about all the money our government blows. We either mean it or we don’t.

The law, as written by Congress and signed by the President, says Egypt doesn't get aid if their military staged a coup. If it is important enough to continue giving aid to Egypt even with a coup then Obama has to come to Congress for a new law. Period.

I’m not following Cruz here.

Someone Egyptian, educated, on the ground and understanding why the coup was necessary drew a parallel with what would be do if Obama were to suspend the Bill of Rights in the USA and impose Sharia Law? What would we do? Would we support our military in removing Obama from the White House if this action was the only option?

Somehow Cruz is missing the real picture here. Suspend aid all you want Senator but do it for the right reasons, not some tale about rule of law and such nonsense. Moris was a deceiver that was leading the Egyptian people to Sharia Law and the people there did not want that period.

No need Senator for you to chime in now.

I have no idea who to ping - this is beyong revolting! Cruz should know better! Is every single person in DC in the pay of Mozlems? Is all they read/watch mainstream propaganda? Are they all in cahoots with the Mozlem Brotherhood?

Is there one single elected official who cares to know the truth of what’s happened and happening in Egypt?

I seriously feel like I’m going to be sick. Rand Paul sides with MB and AQ yesterday, now Cruz jumped on the bandwagon.

My only question is:

Are these weasel politicians just incredibly ill informed and blind stupid? (In which case they should resign.)

Or are they actively, knowingly choosing the WRONG SIDE in Egypt? The Mozlem Brotherhood/Al Qaeda side? (In which case they should resign.)

Is there one single honest and intelligent person in deecee left? ONE????? With the courage to speak the truth and act on it?

It seems not.

A better approach would be for Obama to declare that a coup has occurred, and to ask the Congress to pass a law permitting aid notwithstanding. That would the non-lawless way to handle the situation.

The Muslim Brotherhood got into office by lying about its agenda and with a strong organization that took advantage of the US’s demand that elections be held before other political organizations were ready. It is a good thing, and consistent with traditional American values, that the military took over and is fighting the Muslim Brotherhood.

It might have made some sense if Congress had acted when Obama staged his ILLEGAL war against Kaddafi, or when he pushed hard to INSTALL the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

I agree that we should gradually back out of aid to Egypt, but not in response to a popular removal of the Muslim Brotherhood from power after they broke and suspended the laws of Egypt and conspired in church burnings and murders of Coptic Christians.

Sorry, but I’m not really a big fan of Cruz’s. He’s picked up the conservative baton that Marco Rubio dropped. And he’s better than Rubio. But I don’t think either one of them is ready for prime time.

I am not going to agree with either Rand or Paul here, and that fact is just annoying me to no end.

Is everyone so much in love with the Islamists and with terrorism that they all turn into political whores?

An obvious Military coup? We should shut the heck up right now, about our “obvious military coup”.

I am listening to Egyptian TV and it is not obvious to them - they want the OBVIOUS terrorism to stop killing their country. How do we know more about the Egyptian system than the Egyptians do?

WHO is the power behind this love and enabling of Islam in our world?

Can no one stand up and speak the truth in our country anymore?

Before we agree with Cruz’s remark, we ought to ask ourselves how FDR should have reacted if the German army, after Hitler gained full power shortly after the Reichstag fire, had deposed him and the Nazis. Just look at the MB. Whether it “won” a so-called election or not, it’s still a totalitarian horror that’s the nearest thing to the Nazi party and needs to be mercilessly eliminated, just as the Nazis were. The Mahdi’s sin isn’t his present dithering; it’s that he initially supported and enabled the MB in it’s seizure of power.

Whatever you think of the Muslim Brotherhood, it was an overthrow by the military which we subsidize of a democratically elected government. We shouldn’t send them one damn cent....it’s the law. Besides that, it turns US rhetoric of democracy into a deadly farcee.

I’m sorry, I have to disagree with Ted.

We shouldn’t have been giving them as much aid in the first place, and certainly shouldn’t have given Egypt a bunch of F16’s as the MB gained power and started to show their colors.

From my point of view, the MB was a political coup; this is a counter-coup, or in the language of the State Department, a “reset.”

OMG these guys are soooooo short-sighted and ignorant to boot. Depressing.

You know- the more I see the more I’m convinced the neo-cons are nuts. This part of the world cannot deal with democracy. The reasons are myriad.

It seems Mubarack and Qadaffi knew that.

First big mistake on Cruz's part that I'm aware of.

Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda getting beat down is a good thing Ted, you're on the idiot Obama's side on this.

A lot disappointed with this statement by him.

Sad I really like Cruz, but he jumped the shark by supporting the MB. Hopefully he will realize that inpowering the MS is not in the best interests of the USA.

This was the wrong time to make this statement and he is being utterly stupid. Hopefully he will update his website with an updated, corrected position that DOES NOT empower the Muslim Brotherhood like he is doing now.
