Michael Savage Predicts He Will Replace Hannity at Cumulus, Limbaugh Likely to Stay
Mediaite ^ | August 15, 2013 | Matt Wilstein

Posted on 08/15/2013 7:05:37 PM PDT by NotYourAverageDhimmi

Conservative radio host Michael Savage teased a “major announcement” on his website earlier today, and tonight, he delivered. Savage predicted that he will be replacing Sean Hannity’s time slot on Cumulus Media’s network of stations. While Hannity’s fate appeared to be tied to that of Rush Limbaugh in the initial reports on the Cumulus move, Mediaite has learned from a talk radio source Limbaugh is likely to stay. Mediaite has also learned from multiple talk radio sources that Savage’s prediction will likely be confirmed soon.

“I predict, right here, right now, that I Michael Savage and the Savage Nation is going to take over The Sean Hannity Show time slot by the end of the year,” Savage said. “He’s probably a nice guy, but his time is come and his time has gone,” he continued, and “I am the heir apparent to afternoon drive on the east coast and around America on Cumulus stations, which have the most powerful stations in the radio world.”

If Hannity’s strong right-wing views were the impetus for Cumulus’ decision to potentially let him go, they would not be getting anything less conservative in Savage. The host has a long history of causing controversy with his remarks, dating back at least 10 years to the comments that caused MSNBC to fire him. Since then, he has blamed Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts’ epilepsy medicine for his health care ruling, mocked Fox News’ “empty skirts” and “lipsticks with legs” and labeled President Obama the “first Muslim president.”

Savage also has a history of animosity with the man he says he’s replacing. He recently called Hannity a “fake conservative” and one of the “most shallow men in the America media.”

As a loyal “SAVAGETTE”, I’m afraid that he will lose female listeners in a move to a 3-6pm time slot. Suburban housewives are too busy during those hours with cooking dinner, getting their kids from school, homework, after-school activities, etc.

I’d still make an effort to listen, though...

On the other side why do people listen to the some ole of Hannity?

Hannity routinely has libs on his show and politely rips them up. I still find it entertaining.

RE: "Rush's braggadocio is largely tongue-in-cheek while Savage's isn't."

That's exactly right. I recall the day Rush started locally here in Sacramento in 1984 (1983?). The local lefty wacko crowd finally was able to get KFBK to fire Morton Downey, Jr. (they feigned outrage that Downey used the word Chinaman on the air.)

It took me two weeks to "get it" until then I kept asking myself "What the hell is this?"

I later learned that a two-period was required by most to "get it."

I started listening to Savage almost from day one he was on KSFO (1995 I believe.) I never missed a minute (literally) throughout the remainder of the decade. The last few years have been a chore to listen, sometimes.

Savage, despite his idiosyncrasies still comes up with gems.

Agreed. And I like Savage's honesty (or maybe it's pretend honesty, who knows). Savage will strongly criticize members of both parties.

With Rush, it's Republicans good, Democrats bad. Then comes Hannity. Republicans good, Democrats bad. Although that's usually correct, it's still like a broken record. Republicans good, Democrats bad.

Savage calls it like he sees it.

"Savage calls it like he sees it."

Wasn't it Savage who said Zimmerman was a murderer?

Still repeating that old old old issue?

It’s over it’s done.

He explained it.

You’re barking up the wrong bat.

I believe that you are correct. And even when I disagree with him, that's what I like about Savage. Unpredictable.

I like Rush and Hannity too. But those two rarely stray from the party line. If it's Republican, it must be good. If it's Democrat, it must be bad.

Savage is much less predictable. That can be infuriating. But it can also be refreshing.

And he is usually conservative (or at least pretends to be). Borders, language, culture!

You guys skipped post 56, and of course his relationship and romantic attraction to NAMBLA member and gay activist Allen Ginsberg.

First, it's a current issue. Wiener donated to the election of Moonbeam Brown, of which he is currently serving. How is that an "old old old?, That's 3 olds quoting you.

Secondly, how can someone be a Wiener sucker fan for as long as you have? It took me three days to figure it out, and i am a slow learner from South Louisiana. Do you enjoy having to defend a fraud time after time? I would be exhausted.

By the way, if anyone deserves a better time slot more, it would be Mark Levin.

I like Sean. I love Savage — he’s a tough-minded, no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners, “Borders-Language-Culture” conservative who thinks for himself. Sometimes I disagree with him; more often I agree with him fully. Like Beck, Savage goes places most talk-show hosts won’t go. Dr. Savage gives it to you straight and unvarnished. Others try to be “nice” conservatives. Not Michael.

They already have Savage. They’d just be changing his timeslot from 9-midnight Eastern to 3-6 Eastern.

Rush called Cumulus a “garbage company”.

And Rush is right.
