Let's require a license for operating a website while we're at it.

It's "for the common good."

If this bill passes and you want to make a fortune, open a large ammo store right over the California State Line....

The quantity of ammo used by criminals is like a drop of spit in the ocean compared to lawful use for hunting, competition, recreational shooting ,etc. This law is aimed at discouraging and harassing law-abiding folks, that’s all. Holder’s peeps will still get all the ammo (and guns) they want.

a Southern California lawmaker that would require background checks for all ammunition purchases statewide is moving forward in Sacramento.

Well, it's not like they're asking you to show ID to vote or anything.

I think we ought to require a license for somebody to run for political office.

I volunteer to promulgate a set of minimum criteria.

To obtain such a permit, the holder would have to pass a traditional background check as well as a mental health check...

Anyone who wants to buy mean nasty terrible awful ammunition to shoot in those horrible dangerous criminal scary guns has to be crazy, but we don't let crazy people buy ammunition. Problem solved.

you can drive to South Central Los Angeles…and sell all the ammunition you want on the black market,

We should be screaming to high heaven about this clown's racial remark. He needs to be hounded out of office and imprisoned for this remark. A Klansman, indeed!

How about they first show the effectiveness at requiring an illegal drug buying license? If that will stop illegal drug possession, then I’ll believe the ammo license has a chance are restricting gun crime. Until then....

Ca has special rules and laws for all sorts of things.

The way to fight back would be for everyone living in other states to refuse to buy anything that was made special to comply with some silly CA law.

Cars/trucks, lawnmowers, chainsaws, etc are a good example.

They get $hitty gas mileage and don't last as long.

Once Mfg’s figure out they can't sell the crap anywhere but CA they will quit selling there or require special order and deposits.

That will screw CA residents and pi$$ them off, but they are the idiots that elect them!

When Pedro has to pay $1000 and wait 6 months for his next leaf blower they might wise up.

"you can walk into any gun store in California and you can load up a U-Haul truck, fill it up with ammunition, "

Pray tell where this store is that has a U-haul full of ammunition. Especially .22LR ammo.

I’ll need to talk to my reps in the state legislator. Might convince them to add a 300% tax on ammo for all California citizens, visiting Nevada. (For the children)

To buy a $5 box of .22 CA lawmakers want the buyer to pay twenty times that for a background check, fill out forms & pay for laminated license card? At what what point does a government act become unconstitutional? Is it as the trap door opens when you are on the scaffold with a noose around your neck?

We already have to show our FOID license in Ss-Illi-noise to buy ammo.

It was so refreshing to be able to buy ammo right off the shelf when we were in Montana last month. No FOID, no questions asked, and the best part no sales tax.

I so want to move out.
