Chilling video from a home in Dekalb County, Ga., shows local police entering a house illegally, berating the home’s residents and then tackling them to the ground.
The entire incident took place because the mother of the home, Natania Griffin, was two weeks late on paying a $1,000 fee to the county.
Griffin’s 23-year-old son, Donovan Hall, recorded the event. He was alarmed and confused when police began banging loudly on his door in the middle of the night.
“I was immediately confused as to why the police would be at my house,” Hall told the Huffington Post. “The knocks became more and more aggressive.”
On the video (see below), Hall timidly opens the door and asks the police why they are at the house. But police quickly enter the home and soon pin Donovan and his brother on the ground.
“One officer hit me in the face with his gun and I fell to the floor,” Hall said. “Another officer began kicking me and bending back my arms. They put handcuffs on me and continued to kick and punch me. At that point, an officer with his knee in my back stood up and put both feet on top of my head. He was standing on top of my head.”
The officer’s continued being violent to the boys, even putting a Taser to the head of Hall’s younger brother.
“Why are you being so aggressive, sir?” Hall asks in the video. “We haven’t done anything wrong.”
The officers never answered Hall’s question.
Later in the video, an officer can be heard saying “I wish I could cane both of y’all.”
Griffin says she was never asked for her name or read her Miranda rights.
“It was a perfect storm of abusive power and arrogance,” she said. “They are criminals. Their conduct was criminal.”
Hall posted his video to YouTube where it received almost 200,000 views. The video ended up on the front page of Reddit.
The family hopes to hire a lawyer and press charge against the DeKalb Police Department, but they lack the funds to do so. They are hoping that the video will spread awareness of the incident and someone will agree to represent them without charge.
“Although it happened to my family, it’s a microcosm of the world,” Griffin said. “What about the other countless families who feel powerless against this kind of tyranny? Who is championing their cause? This is a problem.”
Here is Hall’s video of the incident:

Citizens never realize they’re part of a police state until police malfeasance happens to them personally.
Since you posted this what is your assessment of this event?
It seems that these kind of incidences of alleged police brutality are becoming common place. What is going to have to happen before it goes any further? Are citizens going to have to arm themselves and start shooting some of these thugs to get the attention of their keepers? Who knows.
and if you defended yourself, they would murder you and get away with it-either the police or the state. That’s all right though, reckoning day is coming.
Actually, I’m behind a firewall at work. I didn’t watch the video. So, I have nothing to offer but speculation.
IF (big if) events as reported are true.... The cops overreacted.
(Thats been known to happen)
Not that I mean to imply that puffpost would INTENTIONALLY post anything misleading, of course. *cough*
Since you posted this what is your assessment of this event?
Actually, Im behind a firewall at work. I didnt watch the video. So, I have nothing to offer but speculation.
Actually you already implied or suggested this was police brutality. Now you say you never watched the video?
That's a bit curious.
So. I have an agenda in posting this thread? And I’m implying or suggesting something by simply posting this?
What’s your freeping point, pal?
First of all, the mother is admitting in the video she has had run ins with the police before.
Second, why do they stop insisting the police have the wrong house? You open the door immediately and point to the house numbers if you are completely innocent and they really are at the wrong place. Something about this doesn’t smell right.
I watched the video. I’m pretty comfotable calling this police brutality. I don’t care if the Huffington Post is the source. The video is 19 min of heavy handed bullshiite police work. There is no excuse for the way this family was treated. It won’t be long before the Freeper LEO Defense League shows up to tell us these asshats did their jobs in a proffesional manner.
I clearly established my point at door #8. Apparently you didn't read it.
Were those in the house arrested?
Here’s a local TV link relative to the incident. I’m with you. I won’t have anything to do with Puff Ho either

Funny how the cops involved are going to be disciplined. For using bad language.
(Hoo Boy)
Your point is unclear. But that’s OK. My point is VERY CLEAR.
Bleep Off.
I watched the video. The cops were literally ghetto thugs. It was straight out of Pulp Fiction sometimes.. ‘Say something again mf’er!’.
I know some people who could use a good caning....
The boys were taken to the ground, handcuffed, and had tazers held to their heads while the “police” threatened “I’m gonna taze your big ass”. The mother was cuffed and taken outside. They may not have been “arrested”, but they damn sure were roughed up and detained. At no time during the video do the police inform anyone why they were there.
I make every effort to stay off of the police radar: I drive the speed limit or no more than 5 over. I pay my bills in full and on time. I stay out of debt. I don’t do drugs. I don’t drink if I drive and don’t drive if I drink. I stay in or near my home between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM. I don’t associate with deadbeats, addicts, reprobates, or losers.
If someone comes banging on my door at 2 in the morning, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be armed. I will not open the door. I will talk through the door or a neighboring window, but I will not open either. If it’s the police, they can come back with a warrant. If it’s a criminal, they’ll be notified immediately about my armaments and told to leave pending the arrival of a law enforcement officer.
If for any reason I am awoken in the middle of the night by the crash of something or someone through my front door or any other door or window, I will meet force with force and fire upon the intruders regardless of their armament or numbers. If the gestapo tactics in force by police departments around this nation come to my doorstep, I may die in the fusillade, but some of them are going with me. I am not standing for this shit.
No warrant, no entry. What part of the 4th Amendment are you having trouble with?
