If Russia cannot and will not guarantee the safety of the athletes, then they need to give up the games.
If the athletes go to the games to compete in their respective sports than I am sure they will be fine. However they are under an obligation to respect and obey local laws. That means if they go out into the streets of Sochi among the local population and try to hold a Gay parade, then they face possible arrest, and rightfully so.

Actually George speaks of his time in the internment camps in his autobiography "To the Stars".
Apparently there is a word in Japanese for white people that translates to "Hairy breed".
Not too much removed from the N-word.
But it doesn't matter. George was interned by his hero, FDR, and supports the political party that put his AMERICAN parents into said camps.
Geez, George, I don't care how liberal you are, I'd NEVER forgive the political party that did that to my family.
It would be like a concentration camp survivor voting for a socialist democrat.
And we know that doesn't happen, right?

The IOC needs to tell Russia to behave or they'll cancel the games and leave them holding the bag for all the expenses incurred so far. I don't think the IOC wants to play hardball with Putin. Russia has a lot of clout in the winter events; its tough to predict how future games might be impacted. Intemperate actions here could permanently split the Olympic community.

Take her out Mr. Sulu...I call it "him," Captain. If I take him out, I will put him back in, and then take him out, and then...

I feel for the athletes that trained and waited for years to be part of this. To have it destroyed in anyway due to gays and their freakin ‘feelings’ is the real disgrace.
I’m sick to death of hearing from these jerks who are among the most self centered arrogant obnoxious of them all!

Don’t worry. The EPA is taking care of that for you. They have ruined appliances and toilets, and now they are considering energy standards for computers and related equipment. Pretty soon we’ll be sitting in cold caves doing our communications with chalk drawings on the walls.
