Get a public employee mad for doing a slow job and the cops get called.

I'm a shuttle driver for a hotel near the DFW airport, and in the last year a building program of making new toll plazas on the north and south end has taken place and part of this program has been to build very narrow concrete barriers to enter and exit the DFW airport.

The concrete barrier lanes, makes one feel one is entering or leaving a fortress compound, such as the Berlin Wall. There is only one wide lane for 22 passenger hotel shuttles or semi's, and this lane is not toll tag only meaning that any car may go in the lane, discriminating against vehicles that go into the airport with regularity with a toll tag, such as the vehicle I drive, because there is not an exclusive lane for wide vehicles with Texas toll tags.

I was departing the DFW airport and got caught, in which I believe was a car not having a ticket to depart in the wide lane. I waited four minutes and started to honk to get attention, so that traffic could move, I kept honking, and honking, because I knew I was the only driver on duty for the hotel. I put my vehicle in park, and got of the vehicle, to push my protest of the delay with no avail.

Finally after 12 minutes of waiting the red minivan went through, and I was notified by my radio and by my supervisor that I had been honking and had gotten out of the vehicle to see what was going on in 104 degree heat.

Anyway the DFW toll plaza is a total cluster youknowwhat. It is like a mini Berlin wall and is filled with recent immigrant employees, with rudimentary English, mostly from Africa and the Asian sub-continent.

The place is run by a man named Dean Ahmed, who has no idea about customer service. I have talked to him on the phone, he is your typical arrogant democrat.

Also, by my honking of the bad customer service, I was called into the DFW police who called my hotel, and now I have to suffer the HR director saying, "you don't honk", while she tells us, "to give the best service possible".

I wonder what she will say and look like, when I say,"Shouldn't the DFW parking authority give me the same."

Honk honk - pedestrian rights when legally in a crosswalk is the topic, and I love it when the driver honks, since then I know he’s seen me!

WTF are you talking about?! The article has nothing to do with pedestrians in crosswalks.....

With my post #31 I seem to have provoked reactions from at least two other Freepers, so that gradually the topic effectively changed, as you'll see just by looking back at the last 50 or so posts.

Welcome to the thread - HONK!

Sorry dude, I misinterpreted when you started your post with "Honk...", so I thought you were just jumping into the fray (or in this case, the crosswalk) on that one.

So like you said, "carry on".

My post didn't start with the word "honk" ... I quoted someone else in my reply to them (not you.) Perhaps a reading comprehension course for you is in order .....

“Okay, okay, so I didn’t misunderstand “Honk”, I misunderstood “Go Honkies” when I inadvertently and mistakenly thought you were commenting on the current posts in the thread. So I’ll try once more - sorry.

Don’t know if you’ve ever been caught up in a “flame war”, and good for you if you haven’t, but I admittedly did get caught up in one with two antagonists on this thread, and attribute my comprehension lapse in the case of my inappropriate response to your thread to that.

I had one once. Some guy who described kiddie porn as “art”, the thing went for close to a thousand posts before anyone really noticed. lol. I did get a time out.

Thanks for the understanding. Wow, some guy considers kiddie porn to be art! That's only slightly more deranged then my two antagonists who think willfully driving into a stream of pedestrians in a crosswalk and making them run for cover is just being a "real man", and God forbid someone like me should kick their car for doing so, cause they'll continue being "real men" by jumping out of their vehicle to give me a beat down.

So since they think using a vehicle that weighs 20X more than a pedestrian makes them tough, I've decided to dominate them on this thread in like fashion - I'll just post 20X as much as they do and continue to assert pedestrian rights! So their only choices are now to run like a scared pedestrian (as they now seem to have done), or to stay with me on this thread and continue to engage in the same kind of mutually destructive foolishness as would be exemplified by a reckless driver (now me on this thread) and a stubborn pedestrian who refuses to move (like them, if they decide to return).

Would anyone consider this a real car?

LOL - you know, I might actually be deterred from kicking that car if it cut me off while I was walking across the street. After all, I might knock it over an do more than just damage the car - I might hurt the driver!

And besides, I'm not sure who'd be in more danger from the impact if there were a collision - me or the driver?

However, despite it's petite size and the danger the driver of such a vehicle would face in most collisions - perhaps even with pedestrians - it does seem to be a great accessibility alternative for the disabled.

Can those be operated independently? Not sure, but in either case there’s clearly a trade-off at least with regard to the ease and speed of getting in and out of the vehicle (I think I can call it that, “car” - not so sure).

Oh yeah, and forgot the advantage of parking. A “car” that size may not even need a designated handicapped spot to get close to the driver’s intended destination!

true

a car that size might even save a lot of tax $$ in Europe if its allowed to register as a motorcycle... or do they still need fewer than 4 tires.. I mean tyres... for that?

You've certainly raised my curiosity:

How many wheels does this have (I can't see whether the front has one or two, and just like I'm not sure if I can call this a "car", I'm not sure I can call those "tires")?

What's its top speed, and if it's not faster, then say, a golf cart, then would it be considered safe for use on the road when a golf cart would not?

Assuming it's not faster than a golf cart, then is it for limited use, and what are those limits? Type of driver (is that constitutional)? Type of use (off highways)?

In some places they let you drive drive golf carts on local roads. I guess a retirement community wouldn’t notice this thing
