LOS ANGELES Three million Time Warner Cable customers in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas are losing the CBS channel, as the cable provider says it is dropping the network in a dispute over fees.

I wish my local CB.S. station would dispute their fees.
You can always use on of these if you really miss that channel.
and we would notice when....?
No big loss.
all you need these days is an internet connection for TV movies interesting shows all when you want to see them. Get rabbit ears for the digital signal that comes over the air. The digital signal is more clear than the cable connection. And you don’t have to pay to watch infomercials
Re-run season seems like a poor time to negotiate.
I get 32 channels using that type of antenna but as a digital receiving antenna. There is no more analog signal to speak of but that antenna will pick up the digital signal just fibut
Most of the time, I’m glad that I switched to Verizon. But they still carry the ‘fake but accurate’ network.
Does it work OK with a digital adapter? I was thinking of buying one when my TV contract expires.
I wish my local CB.S. station would dispute their fees.
Actually, the problem is that the local CBS station wants MORE $$ from the cable company under a FCC authorized scheme called retransmission consent, where the cable systems has to pay the station a fee on a per subscriber basis.
You can get any channel or sports events for free on the web. My neighbor dropped his dish subscription for months and relies on the web.
I’m far enough out that I have to use a booster on the rabbit ears.
CBS has little to negotiate IMHO. What good programming do they have? I don’t know the last time I even watched that network. I think I have watched a couple of episodes of “Blue Bloods” on demand, but no live tv on CBS for years.
I am not worried about the CBS networks. BUT I am furious I cannot see the final season of Dexter on Showtime. I think the Movie channel is also owned by CBS and affected.
Couple of web sites for you to check: http://antennaweb.org or http://tvfool.com. They will help you to determine the size of antenna you would need at your location to receive stations, and how many stations you should expect.
If you have an older analog set you will need a analog to digital converter. From the wikipedia, here were the dates established by the FCC which mandated tuners in television sets:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATSC_tuner
The FCC has issued the following mandates for devices entering the US:[1][2][3]
By July 1, 2005 all televisions with screen sizes over 36 inches (91 cm) must include a built-in ATSC DTV tuner
By March 1, 2006 all televisions with screen sizes over 25 inches (64 cm) must include a built-in ATSC DTV tuner
By March 1, 2007 all televisions regardless of screen size, and all interface devices that include a tuner (VCR, DVD player/recorder, DVR) must include a built-in ATSC DTV tuner.
If you have more questions, freep mail me.
I would never notice. See-BS hasn’t been on any of my TV screens since Dan Rather destroyed his decades-long career telling lies in his failed attempt to influence a national election. I don’t watch NBC either. And I can’t think of anything I watch on ABC.
Verizon sucks too. My FIOS internet monthly fees have tripled since about 2005 when I first got it here. Oh they upped the MBPS speed a little bit but whoopty doo—still gouging me. I’d drop it if I didn’t use it for business and my CPA uses it for a tax deduction on my returns.
