Snowden Gets Temporary Asylum in Russia, Leaves Airport
By PAUL SONNE
MOSCOWNational Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden has received asylum for a year in Russia and has left Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, his lawyer said on Thursday.
NSA leaker, Edward Snowden, says the U.S. has left him "stateless". Is that the case? What happens when the U.S. revokes an American's passport? How often does that happen? How do you renounce your citizenship? WSJ's Jason Bellini has #TheShortAnswer.
Anatoly Kucherena, a lawyer who has been representing Mr. Snowden in Moscow, said the U.S. fugitive received so-called "temporary asylum" for a period of one year that allows him to remain and live on Russian territory. Temporary asylum is usually issued in Russia for renewable one-year periods.
The 30-year-old former national security contractor, who is wanted by U.S. authorities for leaking documents related to the NSA's foreign and domestic surveillance operations, left Sheremetyevo Airport after spending more than a month stuck in the transit zone, Mr. Kucherena said in a brief interview with The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
"I already escorted him out of the airport into a taxi,

Since you say government is spying on law abiding Americans to keep us safe, do you support government going door to door searching homes of the law abiding?
They want to oppose everything Obama stands for, and so, I'd say yes.
It's very possible. Snowden said he became disillusioned with the CIA while working for them under diplomatic cover in Switzerland about six years ago. He was stationed in Geneva where he would have come into possible contact with others in the diplomatic community including Russians. He may have been recruited by the Russians at that time and steered toward employment with the NSA.
Snowden left the U.S. and made his first revelations in the Guardian just a few days before Obama was scheduled to meet with the Chinese head of state. At that meeting Obama was supposed to confront Hu Jintao about Chinese cyber attacks on the U.S. Just before that meeting Snowden publicly claimed that the U.S. had conducted cyber espionage against China.
While Snowden was in Hong Kong Putin reached out to him through the news media offering him refuge in Russia. I think this entire event may have been a charade orchestrated by the Russians to embarrass Obama and create controversy and public paranoia in the U.S. However, prior to Snowden’s public declarations he may have supplied the Russians with priceless information on the NSA and CIA.

Looks like Sammy ran for the tall grass...
When ya get back, I have a few dozen more questions for ya Sammy.
I was going to post a witty reply, but it looks like you’re too busy working on gaining the ire of everyone else on this thread, so I’ll just watch.
Then I think you're being naive. China and Russia aren't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts and the chance to laugh at Obama. They were paid in the only currency Snowden had; information on our intelligence activities directed at them. Emnbarassing Obama alone wouldn't have gotten him out of Hong Kong.
When obama is charged with treason and Holder is prosecuted for contempt of congress, then I’ll turn on Snowden.
Snoden said his biggest fear was nothing being done about it. His biggest fear has come true.
How is what the government doing any different than the NSA spying under GW Bush?
I don’t disagree with you on immigration. My question is what is the problem with collecting metadata?
1) The people in charge.
2) Their motives.
3) Ask (Rep.) James Sensenbrenner, author of the original Patriot Act.
Lord knows there are areas where I disagree with Sensenbrenner, but the man does know what the laws he’s authored are all about.
Incidentally, there’s an excellent article in the July, 2013 issue of “Wired” magazine, about the NSA, it’s activities and capabilities, etc. It should be required reading (at least for every citizen who can understand it.) Anyone who thinks these capabilities will not be turned inward someday, if they are not already, is just plain naive.
The NSA has been spying on Americans forever. Have you not done your homework? This has been going on with consent from both parties.
Here is a different way to look at it. Everyone has that family member that they have a difficult time getting along with, however, when a outside force trys to inflict some kind of pain on them you often react with nothing but love and support for that family member, sort of like brothers that beat each other up but nobody else is allowed to touch them.
Snowden is a coward giving comfort to our enemies, this is the kind of issue that should of been handled inside our government, or at least by Snowden on our soil giving up generalities rather than how it was getting done. He’s no hero, and like I said it’s easy to imagine being a Russian spy to get us involved in beating up our own brothers rather than looking at the non family member that wants to kill us.
Who takes a thumb drive with information? That is where he crossed the line. He could have spoken out without top secret information in hand IMO.
He is like a spy or worse, though he would have been OK with me if he just spoke out and didn’t take a thumb drive.
You evaded all the questions...
Answer all the questions and we can continue..
So you're like a child of big loving, all caring government Ms. joy...Government is like your parents...All one big happy family!
And they have to bug your phones, computer and seize your records to keep you safe and coddle you...
It's all because government loves you and supports you Ms. joy.
Have you thought about having your straight jacket loosened?
