Snowden Gets Temporary Asylum in Russia, Leaves Airport
By PAUL SONNE
MOSCOWNational Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden has received asylum for a year in Russia and has left Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, his lawyer said on Thursday.
NSA leaker, Edward Snowden, says the U.S. has left him "stateless". Is that the case? What happens when the U.S. revokes an American's passport? How often does that happen? How do you renounce your citizenship? WSJ's Jason Bellini has #TheShortAnswer.
Anatoly Kucherena, a lawyer who has been representing Mr. Snowden in Moscow, said the U.S. fugitive received so-called "temporary asylum" for a period of one year that allows him to remain and live on Russian territory. Temporary asylum is usually issued in Russia for renewable one-year periods.
The 30-year-old former national security contractor, who is wanted by U.S. authorities for leaking documents related to the NSA's foreign and domestic surveillance operations, left Sheremetyevo Airport after spending more than a month stuck in the transit zone, Mr. Kucherena said in a brief interview with The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
"I already escorted him out of the airport into a taxi,

Lot of exploring to do...
I love seeing Putin embarrass Obama. I never imagined that I would side with a Russian president over an American president, but then I never imagined someone like Obama could ever get elected.
This has fortified my suspicions that Snowden is a Russian spy. Regardless of whether or not the NSA did or did not have the right to do what they did Russia wants to embarass us. He’s given plenty of aid and comfort to our enemies.
That could be good....or very, very bad for Snowden.
Just sayin'.......
A few days ago, it was reported that he was definitely in Venezuela or thereabouts.
You and tens of millions of other REAL Americans.
He's not embarrassing America, but Obama. A universe of difference.
Precisely. Conservatives are going to look foolish for championing Snowden. History will not look well on the conservative movement. Reminiscent of how badly the isolationists looked in the GOP prior to 911.
Who are our “enemies”? I don’t think they are the same as the NSA’s “enemies,”
Ya think the government illegally monitoring, seizing records, tapping phones, illegally using the IRS to harass and intimidate while hacking computers of the law abiding, only began with this corrupt administration?
Not look well through the spying eyes of corrupt government?
Ya think we should be championing an all corrupt all controlling government who are illegally monitoring, wire tapping, and seizing private records of the American law abiding citizens?
Gezuz....
I don’t know if he is a traitor, but sure as hell don’t see him as a hero.
You mean like they kept us "safe" in Boston?
We don’t know how many terror plots this information has saved us from.
Well the Russians warned them about the Boston attack....that doesn’t speak well as to their abilities....they seem more concerned with going after tea partiers than our real enemies.
Not look well through the spying eyes of corrupt government?
Ya think we should be championing an all corrupt all controlling government who are illegally monitoring, wire tapping, and seizing private records of the American law abiding citizens?
Well, one, that doesn't make Snowden a hero. And two, if the government is collecting metadata to keep us safe, what exactly is the problem?
What's the problem?
Lets see if you will answer legitimate questions in response to your comment.
1. Did I suggested he is a hero?
2. You think corrupt government is illegally spying on law abiding Americans to keep us safe?
3. If government is concerned with our safety, why has the government been aiding and abetting an illegal invasion our our country for the past 30 years?
4. If government is concerned with out safety, why has the govenrment been selling off America while borrowing trillions from the Communist?
I have many more questions for ya, but you can start by answering these.
So do you really think China and Russia have bent over backwards to help Snowden merely because he embarassed Obama?
