Friday AM I woke up with my feet hurting really bad. Leg pains are a known side effect of the drugs I take for my lungs so I figured I would just pee in my emergency jug and sleep until the pain moved somewhere else. It never did, just got a lot worse and I started running a fever. Tried to get up and fell back on the bed. I got SIL Steve to pick up all 225 pounds of me and get me on the john before I did an Al Roker. I wasn't able to stand up and get back to bed. Daughter Mary figured I was about to leave this world on a porcelain throne and she called 911. The EMT crew had to haul me off the pot and out the front door cross country to the damned ambulance, in the damned dark. She rode in the ambulance with me.
Got to the hospital I think about midnite and they started sticking needles and wires all over the place. Then I heard them order 3 units of blood, I was all dried up.
I've been taking stuff for fluid retention, I think they gave me too much, way too much, I showed 15% kidney function at the hospital. Since I got hydrated they seem to be coming back on line, X rays and tests didn't show any serious obvious things, just well used 71 year old parts.
A new doctor came in and told me I couldn't walk because I had the wildest case of Gout he had ever seen, my feet were packed with Uric acid crystals. It hurts so bad you don't want the air to touch your feet, you just simply can't walk.
No more pee pills for me, I'll just go ahead and swell up until I bust.
I'm weak as a kitten didn't really get any sleep or food in the hospital. They torment you awake and the food is inedible and your talking to someone who can live in the woods on what I can catch with my hands. I can open a tray of hospital food and the scent just turns my stomach, I don't know how they manage to ruin it like that.
Missy has been raising Hell because Mary moved the kitty treats I keep by the computer and I couldn't find them. She got in my lap, stuck her head in my armpit and started moaning at me. I told her to go find Mary and she went marching out with her tail twitching, back in five minutes, grandson said Mary was taking a nap. She just got up and found the kitty snacks so it's a little bit calmer in here.
I'm gonna sleep some, then I've got to figure out how to make windows 8 work or replace it with win 7. In it's present oem form it's a sick joke.
I imagine my sense of humor will come back someday but I'm not betting on it.
Welcome back S, glad you’re feeling “better, I hope”.
Sometimes side effects of meds are most of people’s problems, IMHO.
Sometimes finding the right specialist doctor can work wonders. With my father, I find it’s hit or miss with docs. Some fantastic, others, gotta know when to replace them.
It never ceases to amaze me how they don’t seem very precise in their analysis, don’t seem to think about what patients eat, etc. Seems important to health to me, but I’m not a doc.
I can’t help you with Windoze.
Any of your kids or locals down there know about Linux ?

It’s great to have you back, Swampsniper.
Thanks for starting this thread Mary.
I’m glad you’re back. I love the pictures you put up. I have windows8 also and it is different. One thing that helped me was [f you run your cursor down in the lefthand corner where the icon for the metro screen comes up. Right click and a menu comes up with a lot of the useful stuff on it, File explorer, task manager, control panel etc, etc.
Glad you are back all sassy and such. Can hardly wait till you get your sense of humor back. ;)
Gees Louise. I am a piker compared to you and Mesta. So are all in this house, save one.
I hydrate myself every ding dong day. All day long until about 9 pm. Just to keep any kidneys from complaining. I have wondered whether doing that may keep gout away...all that uric acid, etc. Doing this is a pain for restaurants, though.
