The couple pulled from their upturned SUV by George Zimmerman are Dana and Mark Gerstle, MailOnline can reveal.
The rescue took place on Wednesday after a series of frantic 911 calls following the incident on a stretch of Florida highway just yards from where Zimmerman shot 17 year old Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman, acquitted of all counts against him on July 13, has been in hiding since the controversial finding that has ignited America and brought thousands onto the streets of America.
Father of two, Mr Gerstle, 52, was driving onto the off ramp of the highway when he lost control of the vehicle resulting in the terrifying crash that left him, his wife and two children aged eight and four trapped.
Neither he nor his 41-year-old wife chose to comment on their extraordinary brush with the now infamous Neighborhood Watch Captain.
Zimmerman did not witness the accident which took place at 5.47pm but was on the scene shortly afterwards. Though he spoke with his lawyers on Friday he did not make any mention of the rescue.
Speaking to MailOnline Shawn Vincent, a spokesman for Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara said: ‘We spoke with George on Friday and he made no mention of this at all. That’s very typical of George.
‘He has a history of getting involved….it’s just the way he is.
‘There has already been the backlash of people saying this is some sort of PR stunt but it isn’t. We’ve had it confirmed by the Sheriff.’............
Sanford Police Department Capt Jim McAuliffe said that Zimmerman was identified by one of the crash victims as the man who pulled him and his family from the mangled blue Ford Explorer.

George is a very humble man..he doesn’t like taking credit for being a hero, he just did what he knew in his heart was right

The family is afraid to comment as they normally would.
The ugly racism in all this, from beginning to end, has been against Zimmerman.
There is NO WAY the left is not going to scream that this was all a huge SET UP.
They’re not wired to believe in genuine human kindness because they’re intensely political and they’re actually not very kind.
They think it’s SUSPICIOUS.
Ordinary people are motivated to do extraordinary things during emergencies.
Like the guy who was there to rescue the kidnapped girls in Cleveland a few months ago.

State Media did not even report the event; therefor it is a non-event for most people since they’ll never hear about it. It goes against the Regime’s narrative on Zimmerman.
Weren’t they just out to get skittles? This is a clear case of attempted murder!
Isn’t there some kind of medal which is tacked on by the President?
