Rifle-toting woman shoots, kills man outside gas station in southeast Houston

Surveillance cameras caught a deadly confrontation outside a gas station in southeast Houston Sunday evening when a 23-year-old woman shot and killed a man with a rifle.

It happened at the Gulf station in the 6800 block of Cullen Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m., according to Houston police.

Video shows a woman, who was dressed in camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt, arguing with a man near the gas pumps. At some point, she pulled out a rifle from the trunk of her vehicle and pointed it at the man.

That is when the man took a swing at her, knocking her backward. The woman then aimed her rifle directly at him and fired off several rounds.

To witnesses’ surprise, she then pulled out her cell phone and recorded the body lying on the ground.

The victim, identified by family members as 58-year-old Lewis Daniel, died at the scene. A knife was also found on the ground near him, police said.

From what I could see on the video, it does not look like she had time for that option, and the back of her car was already open as he approached. Hatchback? (I don’t know if they even call it that anymore...)

Interesting. Video seems to show a man committing harassment and assault against a woman, then continuing to commit those crimes after she retrieved a rifle from the trunk of her car. Based on the video evidence presented in the press, I would characterize the woman as the victim of assault, and the man as the perpetrator thereof. The video appears to depict justified self-defense.

Nothing to see here folks, black on black crime! The southwest side of town should be renamed the wild southwest! There are a lot of Katrina transplants over there and they are wild.

Black on black killing here...she stood her ground I guess. He walloped her so hard she fell back five feet. In the heat of the moment she shot and killed him. On a rational level she should not have been in fear of her life but no court will convict her. Will she even be charged?

Roughly similar to Treyvon being killed. Trey thought he could beat the crap out of a pudgy older white man and not suffer any negative consequences.

One little correction. Since Treyvon circled George's truck before running off, we may assume st skittle saw he race of the smaller man he decided to try the knockdown game on.
