Surveillance cameras caught a deadly confrontation outside a gas station in southeast Houston Sunday evening when a 23-year-old woman shot and killed a man with a rifle.
It happened at the Gulf station in the 6800 block of Cullen Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m., according to Houston police.
Video shows a woman, who was dressed in camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt, arguing with a man near the gas pumps. At some point, she pulled out a rifle from the trunk of her vehicle and pointed it at the man.
That is when the man took a swing at her, knocking her backward. The woman then aimed her rifle directly at him and fired off several rounds.
To witnesses’ surprise, she then pulled out her cell phone and recorded the body lying on the ground.
The victim, identified by family members as 58-year-old Lewis Daniel, died at the scene. A knife was also found on the ground near him, police said.

Interesting. Video seems to show a man committing harassment and assault against a woman, then continuing to commit those crimes after she retrieved a rifle from the trunk of her car. Based on the video evidence presented in the press, I would characterize the woman as the victim of assault, and the man as the perpetrator thereof. The video appears to depict justified self-defense.

Can’t see the video behind the corporate firewall. What were the races of those involved? If she was white and he was hispanic/black, we might have another Zimmerman trial on our hands.
Then again, this IS Texas. Likely cooler heads will prevail.

The “reporter” got it wrong - the guy didn’t swing an umbrella at the woman. He held the umbrella in his right hand and swung with his left. It looked like a clumsy or drunk knife attack to me.
The dead man pulled a knife on the shooter, but according to his brother, “he didn’t want to hurt nobody”. She may have pushed her luck in terms of the law by firing multiple shots once he was down, but I hope the police give her a break. She may not have known whether he was still a threat and about to get back up, and she’s not a white Hispanic so there is no reason to prosecute her.
From reading the story it appears this guy liked to screw with people at the gas station. He would attack them with the umbrella and in this case approached her with the knife in his hand. That was after repeatedly making sexual requests from her.
Too late for that.
Clumsy or drunk doesn't matter. Attack me with a knife, get shot. Simple. Don't wanna get shot? Don't attack me.
BTW, the woman appeared to me to be projecting a major "Don't Fsck With Me" attitude even before the apparent perpetrator started perpetrating.

She shot that man for much less than Zimmerman shot Trayvon. Zimmerman showed restraint!
