So what are we to make of this astonishingly low attendance after non-stop coverage on cable news and elsewhere, as if this trial were the only serious issue confronting our country?
Could it be that the citizenry, including African-Americans, supposedly so greatly injured, have seen through the media hype (what I earlier called media pornography) and themselves realize this case is simply an accidental, anomalous one-off and not that big of a deal?
I certainly hope so, because what we have been going through is a form of national nervous breakdown, taking us rapidly backwards on race relations, something that has improved consistently in our country over the last fifty years.
What we do not need now is a “national conversation on race.” That’s like taking a scab that’s slowly healing and, just when it’s about to whither away, scratching it as hard as possible until the wound comes back.
We have strong civil rights laws. We have an even stronger national consensus against racism. Racist behavior is a huge social taboo, as it should be.
Now we should just leave it alone— let the scab heal. Morgan Freeman said this best in a famous interview with Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes back in 2006. (Unfortunately, the great actor rescinded this later. But I prefer to believe in this more sophisticated, calmer Morgan.)

They vented their fake outrage on twitter. That was it.
I liked Drudge’s “Hundreds protest for Trayvon” headline. All the usual suspects showed up that always show up, but there was no vast outpouring except from the media whores. I like to think that most folks white or black recognized Trayvon for what he was, a punk thug, and were just as glad they had not met him.
I’m not interested in a national discussion on race.
The racists can discuss it amongst themselves if they want, I no longer care about it at all.
uhhh....that nearly five decades of the Great Society has left the intended audience too fat and happy on their couch at home with their free cable TV, Obamaphone and SNAP-paid snacks to go out and participate in a good riot?
I haven’t had the TV on for two days.
Outside of the media hype and usual loudmouths I don’t think there is the anger or interest the aforementioned crowd talks about.

It merely confirms the truth: all of the left’s puppet groups are like the residents of the City of Oz. They have been given a pair of tinted glasses and now foolishly believe everything around them is actually green in color. They are in thrall to a Wizard (a president, a congressman, a media figure, a race hustler) who relies on cheap theatrical tricks to manipulate them so they cheer, cry, and boo on cue.
But ‘outrage’ bereft of actual emotion - or grasp of the facts - is very weak tea. And so these demonstrations are strictly pro forma.
Is Zimmerman White? Or is he Hispanic?
Was Wallace White? Or was he Jewish?
If Whites have it so sweet, how come so many people want to self-identify as something other than white?
Why can't we just be Americans? Is that such a bad thing to be?

Morgan Freeman...good actor,a much better actor than I’d ever be.As for his opinions on the weighty issues of the day they mean no more than do mine.His may even mean less than mine,given that I’m part of “the 99%” and he’s part of “the 1%”.

What we have in this country is an ENCOURAGED black population that just wants whitey's money handed to them, to continue to be able to use "The Race Card" as the get-out-of-jail free mechanism (Holder's People get a pass), and MORE of those wonderful "Pigford Settlement" racial payoffs.....just keep that Whitey tax money flowin' to their EBT's, WIC, Food Stamps, "Obama Money", etc., etc., and they'll be fine with that.
Run ANY black candidate, and they will ALWAYS get 90% or more of the Black Vote, but that has nothing to do with Race!

The Al Sharptons of the world are afraid that they might have to find real jobs if they can't keep racism alive. This is what it's really about. I'm glad that nobody is showing up for the "rallies" or whatever it is they are calling them. These cries of "racism" are getting more and more pathetic and fortunately most of America has moved past it all.
It's time to put Sharpton and his ilk out of business.
