I really miss the clever and entertaining ‘bits’ he used to do—the Shanklin parodies (haven’t heard a new one for a while), the Snerdley translations for the “hood,” and going back in time a while, the “updates” complete with their own themes and bordering-on-outrageous mock commentary. Even Operation Chaos from 2008, despite the fact that it didn’t work, was a tour de force.
Rush really seems to have lost his ‘edge’ lately.
Just heard the report on ABC radio. Said police are looking for a man who wore a hood. Maddening that the descriptions never include race any more.

This bit about the Thomas Edsall piece is good. The sheer gall of GOP-e whiners is amazing. Every 4 years they get their moderate/liberal RINO presidential nominee, yet they still b*tch and moan about a handful of conservatives in the party.

btw, he wasn’t making fun of her dialect, he was informing millions of people who did not see her or hear her what she actually said that proved the jurors correct. I thought it was great because I had not heard her, and it really focuses on the culture problems the nation has.
Maybe Shanklin doesn’t have anything new, who knows.

I agree. What used to make his show great was that we learned a LOT every day, while being entertained by those highly creative parodies and other clever bits by Rush. Every show was an absolute hoot... it was exciting to tune in every day at noon. I remember laughing so hard at some of those parodies and at Rush's comments (he has great comic timing) back in "the old days".
If he tried a bit harder, I'm convinced Rush's shows could return to greatness once again.

I didn't say that, and I didn't say that particular 7/3/13 show was "stellar". It was excellent, but not stellar, like Rush's show used to be.

Here he goes again... he just can't help himself. Now Rush is talking about ugly people and Mets pitcher Matt Harvey's gorgeous blonde bombshell girlfriend. I'm about to tune out again...
From my point of view, he needs to market Rush Limbaugh ties again, because mine are wearing out and need replacing - but once you’ve had a Limbaugh tie, everything else is just boring.

My radio has been off all week. I’m forced to turn it on because it drowns out the sound of clucking chickens which terrifies my dog.
Rush is talking about my guy wanting to date blah blah blah.

He defintely discussed Rachel's "dialect" yesterday (ad nauseam) - I heard it on yesterday's awful show. He even tried to pronounce certain words like Rachel pronounced them. He went on and on with the discussion, and didn't bother to take many callers (because I'm sure they were eager to change the Rachel Jeantel subject).
I can understand Rush wanting to talk about the Zimmerman trial and verdict on Monday, and maybe even part of Tuesday, but he basically did the same damn show three days in a row: Monday 7/15, Tuesday 7/16 and Wednesday 7/17. Perhaps you didn't hear all three.
And his main focus on all three shows was Rachel Jeantel's bizarre comments and bizarre "dialect". Three full days - nine hours - of valuable air time wasted on that crap.
