Rand Paul: I’ve got Mike Enzi’s back vs. Liz Cheney

If Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi ends up facing a primary challenge from Liz Cheney, he might be able to count on some help from one of his highest-profile conservative colleagues.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul told POLITICO Thursday that he considers Enzi “a good conservative,” and said he wasn’t familiar with Cheney’s interest in running against the incumbent Republican.

“I don’t know much about her or her politics, really,” Paul said. “I am a friend of Sen. Enzi and while we aren’t exactly the same, I consider him a good conservative.”

If we were just going to elect families, then we should just go back to having a monarchy. FWIW, she never even lived in the state until last year when she moved in anticipation of running for office.

You’re probably happy that California’s Governor Jerry Brown got Amazon to agree to collect taxes on sales to Californians.

>> you make the mistake of assuming the daughter is the same <<

Mary Cheney says she "can't think of a single issue" where her sister Liz disagrees with their dad. Is she lying?

I don’t see how she doesn’t add to the gay “marriage” RINO contingent in the Senate. We don’t need that.

Marriage is a state issue, not federal.

>> the idea that somehow Enzi is “entitled” to keep the seat I find at the center of the problem facing the GOP. <<

I don't think any Enzi supporters here think Enzi is "entitled" to keep the seat because he is the incumbent. We want him to keep the seat because has proven to be one of the most reliable conservatives, and Liz Cheney hasn't.

If anything, I think the problem is Liz Cheney supporters think she is entitled to have an extremely powerful political office in another state, simply because she her last name is "Cheney". She is entitled to run for it, but she is in no way deserving of it.

It hasn't stopped Obama and Dick Cheney from using their federal office to lobby for it, and do everything in their power to have judges strike down federal laws to stop "gay marriage" from being imposed on states.

Oh goody, another "conservative" who thinks Enzi failing to get an internet sales tax is worse than the Cheney family successfully leading the way to destroy traditional marriage in America.

Did you support Ronald Reagan? Members of his family support Obama, whose policies are destroying this country.

Uh oh. How are Liz Cheney supporters going to spin this one? Good luck trying to portray Dick's daughter (the “Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State For Near Eastern Affairs” in the Bush administration) as the “anti-establishment” candidate, and the guy who is being backed by Rand Paul as a “RINO”

Are u talking about the Rand Paul who wants to give Amnesty to 2 million Undocumented Democrats each and every year based on a "Certification" by an Open Borders congress that the border is secure?

That stalwart conservative Rand Paul????

Sorry, but Rand Paul is NOT the definition of conservative, Liberatarian, yes, Conservative, NO!

“Rand is one of McConnell's top supporters”

You could not be more wrong. There is no love lost here in Kentucky between the two. McConnell strongly backed Paul's opponent in the Republican primary. If McConnell gets primaried, and I pray he does, I suspect Rand will return the favor.

What would prompt you to make such a wrong assertion?

Well, little Ronnie Jr. is. Everyone knows little Ronnie Jr. has loudly denounced his father's beliefs, unlike Liz Cheney who is one of the most outspoken defenders of her father and proudly stood with him as they applauded the gay mafia taking over the U.S. military.

If you can't tell the difference between Liz Cheney's relationship to her family and little Ronnie's, you're blind.

Huh? Nowhere in the post did I refer to Rand Paul as "the stalwart conservative". You are 100% correct he is a hardcover Libertarian like his daddy. What I said was that Rand Paul is anti-Washington establishment.

And Liz publicly and strongly disagreed with her Father about Sarah - Just saying the sins of the Father are not necessarily the daughter.

What would prompt me?

Maybe this:

The Daily Caller has learned that Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul is endorsing Sen. Mitch McConnell for re-election in 2014, ending speculation that Paul would back a tea party challenge to the Senate minority leader.

“Rand Paul has endorsed McConnell,” Jesse Benton, McConnell’s 2014 campaign manager, told The Daily Caller.

Maybe “top supporters” was a bit strong. But I was just saying that it’s not like Rand Paul hasn’t supported any establishment types or played the same games everyone else does.

“We want him to keep the seat because has proven to be one of the most reliable conservatives...”

So it isn’t a problem for you that he’s been there for three terms? He’s “right on the issues,” so it’s o.k. for him to stay, is that what you think? I am not particularly fond of people from the Bush Admin., so Cheney might not best represent what my views are either, but it does seem unseemly for these people to ensconce themselves in a national office for a generation or more. It simply isn’t a healthy situation not to have new people more often.

Marriage isn’t a state issue today, there is no way that states will be allowed to ignore families that relocate or get transferred there by the federal govt, and military, pretending that ‘gay marriage’ is a state issue is a way to “get r done” for gay marriage nationally.

Besides the feds have to decide on many millions of marriages itself, such as in widow benefits and immigration policy and in the military and federal employment.

The Cheney family appears to be in lock step on homosexual marriage.

If the choice is giving him a fourth term, or giving someone else a first term who will vote to his LEFT, I'll take the fourth term. Ideally, I prefer politicians are term limited, but NOT at the expense of replacing them with someone who will be worse. Doing so would be cutting off your nose to spit in your face. There is clear evidence that Cheney is not as conservative as Enzi.

Alabama's Jeff Sessions is another solid conservative who has been there three terms. If the choice was giving him a fourth term or replacing him with an liberal Democrat Obama supporter who has never been in office, would it be o.k. for him to stay?
