Black Americans paid much closer attention to George Zimmerman's trial than white Americans did, according to a new survey from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.
It wasn't difficult to follow the murder case against Zimmerman, who shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., in February 2012: News coverage of the trial was almost ubiquitous in its closing days.
But not everbody took advantage. Fifty-six percent of the blacks surveyed said they followed the trial "very closely," compared to 20% of whites. The telephone survey of 1,002 adults was taken July 11 to July 14. The six-woman jury returned a not-guilty verdict for Zimmerman on July 13.....

...but they understood it less.
Just because you pay attention doesn’t mean you comprehend.
HA HA HA , Yea they really educated themselves, one black kid said to my oldest boy that Martin was just a small kid and had not got to high school yet, other blacks have come across as really stupid but then again they also vote for a party which brought them segregation and racism.
So, he is everything but white it seems. Again, why are we in this?
2ndDivisionVet, YOU are not wrong.
Should have asked if they actually watched the trial, or got their info from MSNBC or HLN.
Those blacks who agree with the verdict don’t dare open their mouths.
Angela & Bernie led the sheeple to their erroneous conclusions - disbarment is only the first thing that should happen to these two.
After all , like Jentell , all that they watch is the weather channel !
just because they said they followed it does not mean they did, even in their small protests it is mostly white guilt turds from the radical fringes of the left like the workers party
“Followed” is one thing...”Understood” is something quite different.
No. They think it is perfectly okay to smash crackas heads in.
Not the same thing.
Of course since this was an “official” black issue, black Americans had a vested interest in telling people they followed it closely. Rather than asking some open ended question, someone might have asked:
1. Did you see the opening statements in this trial?
2. Did you see the police witnesses for the state?
3. Did you see the gunshot expert for the defense?
ect. Then we might have learned something.
every time I hear that crap I always ask them “is it illegal to follow”
Then ask them is it illegal to attack someone , smash their head on the concrete
Today I asked a few of my Hispanic pals at work if they had been following the case, what the buzz was in their family & community circles, and what they thought of Zimmerman’s being labeled a “White Hispanic”. To my surprise, almost no one had paid the case much attention, preferring to follow sports rather than politics. What they knew they heard only incidentally and were woefully short on details. These were all 20-somethings who can’t be bothered to watch news on any regular basis. No wonder the MSM is able to distort the news so easily: many people just don’t care.
How could 56% of blacks follow this trial closely and still be upset by the verdict. Are they Morons??
I know—stupid question.

I know some do. I saw a video of a protest in Detroit this morning. There were a few black counter protesters carrying signs that said “Social justice is NOT justice”.
The story didn’t even mention them but I’m guessing they were from the growing open carry community in Detroit.
Perhaps they followed the gossip, not the testimony and evidence.
