In my experience, as a male, I have found most women have an uncanny ability to see through BS after a lifetime of dealing with us men. :) Truer words have never been spoken. I thought MOM closing - the part I saw - had a perfect emotional tone. Solicitous but serious; respectful without being pandering. Respectful. All thing that anyone would like to see in someone speaking to them male or female.
