Ted Cruz: Obama’s Egypt policy a ‘stunning diplomatic failure’
Daily Caller ^ | 7/3/13 | Brendan Bordelon

Texas Republican Sen.Ted Cruz blasted the Obama administration’s policy toward Egypt in a scathing op-ed in Foreign Policy magazine, slamming the president’s stance on the Muslim Brotherhood “one of the most stunning diplomatic failures in recent memory.”

As the Egyptian military ends President Mohamed Morsi’s rule, Cruz points out that the ire of many people in the streets of Cairo is not reserved for the Muslim Brotherhood alone.

“The people protesting in the streets were not only carrying anti-Morsi signs,” Cruz writes. “They were also carrying signs with slogans like ‘Obama Supports Terrorism’ and ‘Obama Supports Morsi,’ as well as pictures of the American ambassador to Egypt, Anne Patterson, with a large red ‘X’ through her face.”

To be more direct, what policy would you advocate the US take in regards to Egypt in order for things to be better for us?

1. No aid, food or military

2. Buy any products they manufacture. Encourage capitalism.

3. Eliminate all taxes on any company that invests there, and allow any profits to flow back here tax free.

Obama has less than zero to do with anything going on in Egypt.

You might be right, in the sense that Obama certainly didn't directly order SEIU, AFSCME and other labor orgs to go to Egypt in 2011 to confer with the MB and assist with their coup.

He didn't need to.

I am not disagreeing with you, but I am still trying to find proof that the United States “helped” the Eqyptian people elect the Muslim Brotherhood. Please provide any documentation that you may be aware of.

Unless you recall that his overall goal is to destabilize the entire world - then his policies are a resounding success.

Merely by calling for Mubarak to step down and refusing to assist this ally, Obamugabe gave the GREEN LIGHT for the Muslim Brotherhood to take over.

Plenty of evidence was available that they were the ones agitating the crowd....Mubarak had kept them down, even jailing some of their leadership....

But once the lone SuperPower in the world gives a wink and a nod, the game is over. That is what happened.

Just like Obamugabe didn’t TELL anyone at the IRS to harass Tea Party groups—he merely fostered the culture in which he knew it WOULD happen.

You believe Mubarak was good for the United States? Really?

Yes. He was. He kept the kooks underfoot...AND he maintained the border/peace with Israel...the ONE thing Jimmy Carter did right.

What few people remember—and the media will NOT report this—is that under Mubarak in the mid 2000s, the law in Egypt had been changed to allow for elections....and since Mubarak was getting older, everyone knew it would happen eventually.

The Muslim Brotherhood, knowing that the weak-kneed regime in the Oval Office would not oppose any terrorism, went for broke. And they were right....thus, Morsi.

And the Egyptian people KNOW B.H.O. backed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood....something ELSE the media won’t report. Wouldn’t reflect well on their hero Zero, you know.

You are right that what Obama did was wrong. However, there is no American strategy that makes any difference to the internal situation in Egypt. They don’t listen to us any more than we would listen to another country.
