Former President George W. Bush has weighed in on the Edward Snowden saga, telling CNN the former National Security Agency contractor threatened the security of U.S. citizens by leaking information about the surveillance program his administration created after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.
"I know he damaged the country," Bush said in an interview from Zambia, where he and his wife, Laura, are on a humanitarian mission. "The Obama administration will deal with it. I think he damaged the security of the country."
Like President Barack Obama, Bush deflected criticism of the spy program.
"I put the program in place to protect the country, and one of the certainties is civil liberties were guaranteed," Bush said in the interview...
Bush also refused to criticize his successor. "It doesn't do any good," he said. "It's a hard job. He has plenty on his agenda and it's difficult. [A] former president doesn't need to make it harder."
The White House said Obama will meet Bush on Tuesday in Tanzania...
He added: "You know, ultimately history will judge the decisions that I made. And I won't be around because it's going to take a while for the objective historians to show up. So I'm pretty comfortable with it. I did what I did."

Americans that still believe in the constitution feel it was you who has damaged America by that awful liberty stealing patriot act.
I dunno how I truly feel about Snowden. If he hands over info to the Ruskies or the Chi-coms, that in my book would be a traitors act.
So far, what I know now is liberating, provides validity and solidifies my resolve.
For informing law abiding American citizens that they are being scrutinized, spied on and hacked...I thank him.
I for one am NOT willing to give up liberty for security.
I was not of that opinion when that law was passed, but it appears that I was wrong at that time.

It's a question of logic.
Hating the President isn't going to stop his agenda or convince his fans to abandon him.
Look what it's done instead: it has convinced you to excuse treason and espionage against the United States as long as it apparently makes things difficult for him.
He is playing you and so is Snowden.
He has now escaped all criticism for the shoddiness and unprofessionalism of his intelligence program. He is getting a free pass on his failure to maintain essential security measures.
In the meantime, Snowden defines treason down.
Then they got excited about Echelon and forgot about it.
Then they got worked up about FISA and forgot about it.
It should come as no surprise that the NSA continues to collect data.
That is a sideshow for Snowden's blindingly obvious true agenda.
As we so often asked before: is it reasonous to expose treason?
It is treasonous, however, to give US intelligence secrets to a foreign power.

There is no doubt about it. Bush gutted the 4th Amendment. The consequence is the opening of the US to nationalist fascism and progressive communism under Obama. A new republic will emerge when citizens insist on a return to freedom. Meanwhile we have tyranny.

I believe that he has also applied to Iceland and Iran.
And the fact that we're bugging our allies stinks. It seems all Obama does is piss on our allies and extol the Russians and treat the Chinese with kid gloves.
The fact is that Snowden embarrassed the hell out of the elite in this country and they don't like it.

Yeah, well, as far as I know Mr. Bush, Edward Snowden didn’t allow the southern to remain border wide open from 2000 - 2008 and allow 30 million Mexicans to break in to the country. Personally I can’t imagine a greater compromise of national security than that.
The whole premise behind our knowing about PRISM being a threat is the idea that Mohammed and Ahmed are planning their next attack using a couple of Yahoo e-mail accounts and using words like “bomb” and “detonate,” and now that they know about PRISM, the jig is up because they’ve been tipped off! Somehow I doubt that very much.
These people are cunning, I doubt they’re using Yahoo and Youtube to plan their next attack, and I doubt very much the Government started this PRISM program to “protect” us. I believe the whole thing was about datamining and creating political dossiers on Americans right from the start. The fact that they’re so enraged about having been found out, supports my theory. They act like a cockroach who got caught in the cookie jar, HISS HISS HISS. If they sincerely wanted to stop or at least seriously combat terrorist attacks, rather than turning the country into a polite state, they could simply put a moratorium on immigration from certain countries (starting with Saudi Arabia). In a sane country, that probably should have happened on September 12, 2001.
