I'm starting to wonder if this is one of those cases where the judge can set aside the juries decision and rule independently. I've seen it before...and it was a murder/race case. It was a terrible decision.
I think there was one about a baby shaking and a nanny, too.

This would be a textbook example of “judgement as a matter of law”. That would simply end the case; IMO if she doesn’t, she should not only be removed from the bench but jailed and sued.

I don't think the judge can set aside an acquittal in a criminal case. Only a guilty verdict where there was no evidence to support guilt.
The judge can call for a directed verdict of not guilty if the prosecution fails to meet the burden of proof as the judge sees it.
At least that's what I read on Wikipedia, so that makes me an expert on the matter.
