Day 16 (Week #4) Zimmerman Trial – Witness Discussion Thread
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | July 1, 2013 | Sundance

Today, July 1st, is DAY #16 (of 4th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.

Last week the prosecution feebly presented the first series of witnesses against George Zimmerman. However, as most observers would note, the witnesses called by the state have so far been more beneficial for the Zimmerman Self-Defense position.

Yeah, Serino was trying to satisfy his SPD race hustler peers. SPD doesn't charge anyway, all the cops do is arrest if they have probable cause (they didn't arrest, because they didn't have probable cause). They can recommend a charge to the state attorney, and by doing so in a way that looks legitimate (but it as bogus as underpants gnome), Serino gets his peers off his back, and tosses the (by now white hot) potato to the state attorney's office.

It was so hot, that the state attorney (Wolfinger) recused himself.

Crump was first contacted on Feb 29, retained on March 1. I don’t have any reason to think Crump had any direct impact on Serino, ever, and certainly not on Feb 29.

Not buying. Too many glaring discrepancies/factors. How do you know she’s “in a closet”? That girl has a different personality entirely, more lively and chipper.

Furthermore, RJ has never been referred to (in all of her various aliases) as “Dee Dee” since she became known to the country last week, while witness #8 was “Dee Dee” all of last year.

Check out this analysis of Daisha Mitchell/Daisha Brianne, the initial “Dee Dee”:

Another thing GZ is 100 percent imo telling the truth about that night so there is noway the prosecution can put anyone or anything on the stand that is bad for him unless it’s a lie, or an exaggeration. Usually if the prosecution manages to make a minor point after cross is done the witness has been neutralized or has been turned into a defense witness.

This is a messy case. The law is hard enough to understand, but this case has more smoke and fog than any case I have ever followed.

I like his style. I like the way he acknowledges the answer that he gets. He has a knack for setting a good pace.

The only thing I would have done different than Zimmerman was empty the 9 mm into the thug. Just to make sure he didn’t get up.

I would favor restraining yourself in that situation. What if the thug has a friend, and you're out of ammo? Trayvon became a much better member of society after one shot, so why give an overzealous prosecutor any reason to question your actions, and why waste ammo when it is in short supply?

I strongly approve of good shot placement, so that your shots will permanently stop the threat, but you have a legal obligation to stop shooting once you have stopped that threat. You should reasonably be able to fire a second shot and argue that the thug was still acting in a manner that posed a threat when you pulled the trigger, but more than one shot after a fatal round that completely disables a criminal may be pushing your luck.

i think it is very telling that Bernie did not want to ask many questions of this witness and just wanted to play the tape

Again, I thank you for filling in the blanks.

Much appreciated.

Does he look uncomfortable being there? Can’t figure what his expression is conveying.

Serino had interviewed John Good and others before he interviewed GZ.

If you’re not watching or listening for yourself then how can you say it did damage. Fact is GZ is either innocent and is telling the truth or not. If he is nothing can do damage to him because so far all the physical and eye and ear witnesses can back up his consistent story. Not only is the cross not started but the defense’s cases as yet to be presented.
