Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican nominee for vice president responded to a Fox News Channel viewers Twitter question Saturday about the possibility of her and conservative talker Mark Levin abandoning the Republican Party and creating something called the Freedom Party.

I’ll tell you what. If both Sarah Palin and Mark Levin were in such a new party, that would go a long way toward making me happy.
Sarah ... America Is Calling ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-G2n91wKtY .. Please Sarah .. RUN!
Dropping our of the GOP and going Galt, eh?
Lemme think about that for a moment...
... Okay, I’m in.
I think Sarah should be the head of the Freedom Party. Just do the organizing and lead, lead, lead! Nitwits hated Reagan too but he overcame.
If she then decides to run in 2016 she will have it in the bag.
Not to say she could be a or even the leading light in a new Conservative / Constitutional / Liberty Party. But real political parties are formed out of a set of core principles and usually one overriding cause, and then it draws off the disgruntled adherents of an existing one till it diminishes and is replaced.
So, what would be the core principles of this new party which the GOP power structure is too coopted to pay more than lip service to? And besides Palin who will be the leaders that can be drawn from the Republican (Conservative wing), Democratic (remnant Southern wing), and Libertarian (Sane wing) parties with the experience and profile to form it?
One constituency (very important word if one has any intention of actually winning elections) that was a key to the successful formation of the Republican Party in the 1850's was northern free men desiring the protection from the competition that would be created by extension of slavery to the territories and existing free States. The Democrats were on the pockets of the Slavers and the Whigs were anything but working class. Amnesty for illegal aliens is at least as great if not more of a threat to the same type of people as slavery was back then.
The working and tax paying citizen of this country is threatened on all sides by a) cheap imported quasi-slave Mexican labor, b) an excessively open trade policy which will not even hear of providing protections and incentives to American industry, and c) the draining of his and her substance by a tax and entitlement system that coddles the unproductive and punishes the producers (all with the active support of their $2,000 suit labor "leaders").
I think this is the constituency Palin has been trying to address but has been largely prevented from reaching by the condescension, slander, and outright muzzling by the media and the elites in her own party. It is time she received some help and someone else to draw off the flack and open holes in what is actually a very vulnerable (the vast majority of Americans hate the IRS, Welfare Queens, Lawyers, Career Politicians, and Professional Press) defensive line.
We have to show THEM the way. WE have to lead, not follow. Following got us into the last mess. If we show the numbers, they will come over.
The closest we’ve ever come to all that has been Rep. Ron Paul’s several Presidential runs. But noooo, he was a “nut,” a loserdopian who had the temerity to oppose all foreign aid and got branded an antisemite for it. If I believed in group responsibility and collective guilt, I’d say we should be ashamed of how he was treated. But, I don’t. So, I won’t. It was shameful, though.
He was a nut and no conservative. He DID have good points but not enough to elect him.
Absolutely NOT! A completely NEW party. Those other 3rd parties are really bad. We don’t want their baggage or rules.
They can join OUR party.
Palin would just be the seed crystal.
The pundits and the Pubbies say a third party will not work...Remembervthe Whigs?
Sarah. ... Go now!
I used to like her and only voted for bizarro McCain because of her. But now she’s turned into a loose cannon who is all about her. She has no position, she’s risking nothing,
If she could be the next .Rush, I’d be happy. But she’s not going to be.
I saw she said that 3rd party thing several days or a week ago. This isn’t new.
Yea...no positions at all...
Yeah. Well, personally, I’m willing to give it a shot.
There has been absolutely no reversal in the march to Federal/central government fascism in my lifetime...no matter which of the two, supposedly opposing, parties have been in power.
Watch the video at the beginning of the thread.
Palin is very carefully choosing her words.
She has something she’s thinking of. I could not say it is a presidential run, but then again I could not say it isn’t.
She’s watching her words very carefully.
Just saying.
Sarah and Mark have given us hope for the future. Many of us have been getting more and more disenchanted with the way we've been treated by the GOP and the RNC. If it weren't for the Tea Party and conservatives in 2010, the house would be a lot more blue than red. Does anyone recall gratitude from either the GOP or RNC for those wins?
Our nation's steel and aluminum mills have been disassembled and shipped to Chine and elsewhere in the past 10-20 years causing massive layoffs. One of the reasons given for plant closures was high electricity costs. Today Obama plans to take those costs to a whole new high level. How many businesses will he kill and how many more people will lose their jobs? This can't go on. We need people like Cruz, Palin, and Levin to educate citizens and move forward, not backwards, like democrats are forcing us to do. Sarah is 100% correct.
If there were two people who could successfully start a third party, I’d say Sarah Palin and Mark Lefin are it. Get Rush Limbaugh on board with his audience and we could kick the GOP to the curb. It wouldn’t have to be a new party. We could just go Independent or Constitution.
Mr Ford at the 2000 GOP Convention you serious erred when you said about conservatives "Where else can they go" to GW Bush the party controllers annointed RINO. Conservatives will indeed find another place to go than the GOP-E Party and will leave the building although you didn't live to see it. The GOP-E has run off the Reagan/Conservative/Grassroots portion of the party. So be it.
