LOS ANGELES -- An elderly man was terrorized on a Metro bus and it was all caught on camera. Another bus rider appears to strike the man and screams at him after the older man accidentally sat on him.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday near Wilshire Avenue and Vermont Boulevard.
"I started filming it for my husband who doesn't realize all the crazy stuff that happens on the bus all the time, and then it got really intense," said Erica Rodriguez, who captured the incident on camera.
Rodriguez says she's not really surprised that no one stepped in to help the man.
"It was definitely scary. I mean, you hear about people on buses with guns all the time in L.A. and it was concerning, but luckily, that didn't happen," said Rodriguez.
The bus finally stopped and most riders got off. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies say they did get a call about the incident, but say the man was gone by the time they arrived.
The jerk who was yelling at the old man kept saying “I am the police!”
Makes me wonder if he was telling the truth. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to find out that the LAPD has a foul-mouthed, bullying racist on staff.
How did I know before I looked?
I’m with you — IMO it’s the elderly and animals who get the worst abuse and the least help from the “system”.
Grey Panthers need to carry.
The worse thing, the other 20+ people just sat on their asses and did nothing.... we really got that fear thing going full bore now...
The writer probably means Wilshire Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.
And they wonder why most white people refuse to ride public transportation in the cities.
OK, before I even watch this let me guess: The instigator is asian.
Hit play....
Oh my, h-h-he’s not asian.
Well *this* is a surprise.
I heard “say it again, pinky”. Well, I think it is time for more people to be like ‘pinky”. Enough!
Looking at this objectively, I think the older man was making things worse by continuing to goad the angry man.
If someone is obviously enraged at you, it is not the time to keep insisting that you are right, or try to keep the argument going by throwing fuel on the fire. But some people just cannot resist, and demand to have the last word.
I do and every one I know does too.
If that loud mouthed punk had tried that while I was on the bus he would have been beaten within an inch of his life. Then I would have had him arrested.
You can’t be nice to these kind of people. You can’t talk to them like they are regular human beings. They are like animals. The only thing they understand is getting in their face and letting them know if they act up there will be consequences.
By the way I would never let my wife, children or an elderly relative ride a city bus. They are too violent.
I kept wondering where is his family. Oh my words, if that was my mother...I wouldn’t stop hunting that s.o.b.
I wonder if there is a way to start a volunteer group to give the elderly safe rides to medical appointments and grocery shopping.
This horrid treatment of our elders can’t be tolerated.
The one black guy up front tried somewhat to stop it. I was thinking grey-ponytail dude could have done something.
If several stood up and told the jerk to sit his butt down or they were going to sit him down, he would have stopped.
We’re a bunch of pansies nowadays.
Don’t let the white beard fool you. The older guy is probably in his 50’s and looks like he is in good shape. He got in some good punches in the punk’s face. The punk was bleeding in the mouth and the old guy got off the bus unscathed.
It will get worse as society becomes less civilized because those among us least able to defend themselves will be targeted by the playground bullies. I like your idea, though.
The thing is: everyone will eventually become elderly if they live that long. Those treating others with this degree of evil now will likely have it come back on them in the future if not before.
