Day 15 (Week #3) Zimmerman Trial – Witness Discussion Thread
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | June 28, 2013 | Sundance

Posted on 06/28/2013 5:14:39 AM PDT by Uncle Chip

Today, June 28th, is DAY #15 (of 3rd week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. [Yesterday] … it was simply not a very good day at all for the prosecution. The primary State witnesses today were Rachel Jeantel, Jenna Lauer, and Selma Mora.

The first had her credibility substantively destroyed, the second was powerfully–almost humiliatingly–co-opted by the defense, and the third provided testimony entirely consistent with the defense’s theory of lawful self-defense. (continue reading)

>> I’m wondering if the prosecution is going for a directed verdict. Seriously.

It seems the defense would have absolutely nothing to lose, right?

But with this judge? I dunno. I suspect she’ll be more comfortable with flipping this racial hot potato over to the ladies on the jury. She’s relatively young and there’s a bright future in the FL justice system for a judge who plays her cards like her superiors want her to play ‘em.

Reminds me of the beat down on the bus that went viral: the amber lamps meme. The black dude was videoed by a passenger that egged him on, except the outcome was an adverse one for the instigator.

I feel completely the opposite. He said that George interrupts him on the phone saying ‘just tell her i shot someone’ giving the impression he was almost happy about it. Don’t yell at me, I’m typing what I feel if I was there myself. He also gave the impression that Zimmerman had no remorse, no shock, no adrenalin rush, as if he did this before or was playing a video game. West needs to diffuse that.

It could also be that shooting from his position (something I doubt he ever practiced) George limpwristed the Keltec, which is a pretty light gun, and it failed to chamber the next round.

This is such a weak prosecution. I guess they want to prove “murder” because 10 seconds after shooting a guy in a fight you are not in “shock” and then the follow up, this witness never observed Zimmerman to look back at Trayvon Martin’s body.

Meanwhile, the witness said his impression of Zimmerman was, had been in a fight and was beaten.

I mean, geez, I’m thinking the prosecution actually has to PROVE a murder.

Witness: Z looked like he got his butt beat, and was breathing hard.

I hope West doesn’t try and fight with this guy. He’s a friend.

Z saw a suspicious person unknown to him loitering in his neighborhood, so his first instinct was that Trayvon could be menacing. He never considered him just a kid. The next thing he knew he was in a confrontation with this what he considered a danger. He is then attacked by this person, hell yes he used the gun to save his life.

The witness stated he told Z’s wife that Z had been involved in a shooting. George’s statement, to my mind seems to be more of a clarification to his wife, so she would not think it was him who had been shot.

Is this witness a doctor? Can he state when someone is in shock?

Not sure where you are going with this, but if it were me on that jury, I wouldn’t draw any conclusion to this man’s testimony. It is his perception, nothing more.

the entire judicial system of Florida is on showcase here

the State AG Pam Bondi, her hand picked State Attorneys who are trying this case and the judiciary who are showing to all how stilted they are towards the prosecution

.

>> Bernie trying to prove that Zimmerman was not that badly hurt since he remembered his wife’s phone number.

Whereas those of us who are married know that if we were to forget wifey’s phone number, or fail to call, regardless of circumstances... THAT’S when we would be badly hurt.

Saw Mark Fuhrman a couple of days ago make pretty much the same claim on Hannity (I think).

I have NO idea where DeLa stands, besides his job as DA..

He has done a crappy job “prosecuting”, as of today... (hehehehe).. I actually respect him AND O’Mara for the respect they do give each other in court (on camera, but I don’t think the camera has much to do with that..

In my opinion, he is trying to save face (with state AND public), I could be totally off with that.. I have no clue.

I am no Pro in court.. just had to give testomony a few times.. then leave... .. I am no lawyer.

I just did my job and arrested law offenders (btw, I NEVER had to use violence, thankfully).. AND.. from what I have read from the report (official), GZ was correctly let go on on night of the incident.

Everything after that is political/racial/grandstanding/whatever... this is a farce.

You think a guy agitated and handcuffed telling someone to hurry up and tell his wife he just shot someone, is a sign that he wanted to call his wife because he was so “happy” he shot someone??

Where do you get ideas like that?

Zimmerman told him to tell his wife that he shot somebody to clarify what the witness had already told her, that Zimmerman had been involved in a shooting.

Otherwise, his wife might have assumed that Zimmerman was the one who had been shot.

West quickly running Manalo through prior testimony on hearing gunshot and heading out to investigate.

Manalo with West saying that to him Zimmerman was staggering, breathing hard, looked like he got his butt beat. Gets Manalo to say he assumed Zimmerman was talking to police on cellphone.

Zimmerman asked Manalo if he was bleeding. Zimmerman squatted down to "collect himself." Manalo then saw bleeding on back of Zimmerman's head. That's when Manalo took the photo.

Says Zimmerman told him he was getting beaten and defended himself by shooting the person.
