BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The fate of Paula Deen's magazine, Cooking with Paula Deen, is still up in the air after a controversy over the Food Network host's use of racial epithets led to the end of her television contract.
"We are not in a position to discuss her magazine and contract right now," said Phyllis Hoffman DePiano, the president of Birmingham-based Hoffman Media, which produces the magazine. "A statement will be forthcoming later."
"We at Hoffman Media do not condone discrimination of any kind," DePiano said.

sue them, lady.
This is the kind of thing that could make someone go Galt.
In other news....the publisher announced that they’d concluded a deal with the Kim Kardashain for cooking books....although first...she’ll have to learn how to boil eggs, stir soup, and part an apple.
The curious thing with this mess....is that eighty percent of the fans of Paula’s....don’t rightly care about any accusation of racism. They see it nightly on TV, and it doesn’t bother them anymore.
Considering Paula Deen had a massive suck up session with Michelle Obama around the 08 election, I’m not overly upset if she burns. Hard to suck up to people that hate you for being you (southern and white? Yeah, don’t feel the love from the O’s).
She kissed the liberal ring to have success. Now she inspects the undercarraige of the Obamabus.
I hope she loses everything she has and the earth she trod is salted behind her. Libs should get what they gave.
steel gray hair translates into battle axe for me esp if the person is fat
What she did was wrong IMO.
You don’t destroy people for doing something this level of wrong though.
Punishment of this level is indicative of a mental state that is severely flawed in the punisher, not the punished.
Make it known what Deen has done and let her fan base do what they will.
If I was a fan of hers, I would write her a letter and let her know I think she screwed up. Going beyond that is not called for. If she gets enough letters, she’ll stop the behavior.
That’s enough.
We all joke about political correctness and how stupid it is, but, here we see a real life example of how political correctness is used to destroy a person.
Political correctness is one of the strongest forces in the world today.
when do the truth commissions start?
Good points. Let her fans decide what the fallout will be. If her ratings dropped sharply, and she doesn’t sell magazines and cookbooks anymore, then her fan base will decide whether this alleged controversy is enough for them to shun her.
What is shocking here is that she admitted use of the N word while she was under oath in a courtroom, as part of a lawsuit filed against her. She told the truth, has explained the circumstances, but that’s not enough for the politically correct crowd.
It’s shocking that the Food Network decided to cancel her show because of this. But that’s political correctness for you. The forces of political correctness are very strong in today’s world.
I agree with your comments. It is interesting to watch a Liberal hoisted by their petard by the politically correct crowd they swore allegiance to.
Alert!: No lessons will be learned by this...
The fix was in from that moment - find something that she said or did, no matter how long ago, and destroy her. It's the Chicago way.
You must have to work at being shallow, Norm. No one that has been a freeper as long as you have could have remained as shallow as your postings reflect unless they worked at it daily. And now you’re getting downright hateful!
Alas, I do somedays wish everyone at FR was as sane as you. Your post is such a breath of fresh air in a roiling sea of bilge.
Someone wants to take her down. I understand she has had problems in her family.
If I recall correctly, the term “black” came into wide use around 1968. For some reason, activists did not like the term “Negro”.
And if I recall correctly, Jesse Jackson made a speech around 1988, in which he said that his people should be called “African-Americans”, and that term caught on. But the term “black” never went away after African-American became popular. But in the late ‘60s, use of black replaced Negro altogether. Nowadays, use of the term Negro might be enough to get you “lynched”.
Just stoopit...
I ain’t into her white trash but, she used those during another time that has since passed and she probably doesn’t think. Like that.
Hell , I am constantly corrected for not using the PC word of some contrarian who needs to inject his air of superiority and when one says “The Black” guy they say “African America Americn” or the vice versa will take place.
Too confusing when all one is tracking to do is not offend.
