Television chef Paula Deen, who lost her gig Friday with the Food Network after admitting and apologizing for having used racial epithets, including the N-word, is a supporter of President Barack Obama, campaigning on his behalf in 2008 and cultivating a friendship with first lady Michelle Obama.
Though Deen allegedly called Obama the N-word in front of her employees, according to a lawsuit, the Southern-bred television personality actually campaigned with Obama in 2008, invited Michelle Obama onto one of her television programs, and praised the first ladys healthy eating agenda.

She was a Jimmy Carter worshiper also.
I went to her restaurant in Savannah and thought the Golden Corral was better.
You too? It sure was not what we expected. Very little to choose from at the buffet and not too tasty, other than the hoe cakes.
I could not watch her show because her voice is so irritating and she seems so phony.
Sadly, Very Vera in Augusta, GA, trying to be another Paula, attempts to do a local cooking show that is so bad it is funny without meaning to be. She even gives instructions on how to properly use eating utensils!
I don’t use the word, ever. I was a child when I remember the word used freely. Not freely by my parents, but it would be a lie to say never.
Whoa!! Now that's an insult.
I agree with you.
Brilliant analysis and right on track.
In her case its not her politics, which are probably nonexistent, but her "values"! The hard left can't stand values that we have held close, near and dear here in the Deep South for eons. It's not compatible with communism.
The sad thing about Deen is the same truth about many black families raised in her generation. They all espouse conservative values but may vote dem. They are just not politically astute and our party leaders do a miserable job of showing them the light. Much less inviting them into a party that is much more in line with their values than all the goofballs, and wack jobs they are in mesh with now. If many of the soft dem voters spent a couple of weeks on our threads they would turn pubbie in a heartbeat they are simply never exposed to our side of the political debate/equation.Brainwashing is a terrible thing.
My grandmother, born in the late 1870s, used the word “darkies” instead.
My ex-wife had a family photo of a family member in the foreground. After her mother died, we found the original of that photo, and what was really in the background were some slaves that the family had. Someone had manually edited that photo because it was the only photo of that particular family member and they didn’t want to show the family’s real background. Wow!
Oh, you are so right. I watched Deen once on a news show, and I had to change the channel because she was cooking and licking her fingers. I am glad I was never in a situation to eat her cooking.
If we have chefs following her lead, I suppose we can look for a return of cholera and all sorts of diseases that were avoided through the proper hygiene techniques taught at the beginning of the last century.
The “n word” is a trap. Only Whites can fall into the trap. America’s first minority can use the “n word” all it wants, and can say “cracker” and “whitebread” too.
Amazing how there is more outrage over a word than there is over actual CRIMES.
Exactly. These are not bad people probably not even political. Just politically ignorant. Now they will be political pawns.
I use it rarely, like White Trash.
Well said.
Yes, there are those who use such words, but emulating them is certainly not a worthy goal.
The problem is that the pc revolution never stopped at the “N” word.
Now if you have an opinion on most anything from kids getting bc pills over the counter to whether or not gays and dykes should be celebrated you better have the right take or you quickly become personna non gratta.
Never forget that the KKK was a democrat organization and the democrats even back in the 60’s were anti-black and were not entirely for civil rights. My, how things have changed; and not for the better by a long shot!
Back in the 50’s and 60’s before the PC police came along, everyone pretty much felt free to speak anyway they pleased. I am of Polish and Italian descent and believe me I heard more than my fair share of ethnic jokes!
My parents always told me that sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. I sure miss those days. I realize now that I was a whole lot happier back then despite the abuse.
PC trumps truth every time.
I used to like her but her support of Zer0 and Wookie turned me off.
I don’t have a problem w/ stars voting for whoever they like. But when they start campaigning for the candidate I reserve to right to withhold my support and or money.
Another one that has lost me. Mario Batali. Very few of his recipes interest me.
I’ve known for some time he was a lib but last week I heard him say something about ‘That weird Gov. Palin’.
That was it.
You just hit the core of it all.
By Paula’s own admission, she dated a married man for years before marrying her present husband. I have never heard her mention God I do enjoy her shows for the most part.
Yes, and Sen Robert Byrd was a member.
Somehow he was forgiven of his youthful indiscretion.
Where did you ever get that idea? Paula Deen is famous for her vulgar mouth, never goes to church, has been a longtime Obama supporter.
