U.S. charges Snowden with espionage

Federal prosecutors have filed a sealed criminal complaint against Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked a trove of documents about top-secret surveillance programs, and the United States has asked Hong Kong to detain him on a provisional arrest warrant, according to U.S. officials.

Snowden was charged with espionage, theft and conversion of government property, the officials said.

The complaint was filed in the Eastern District of Virginia, a jurisdiction where Snowden’s former employer, Booz Allen Hamilton, is headquartered, and a district with a long track record in prosecuting cases with national security implications.

A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment.

Snowden flew to Hong Kong last month after leaving his job at an NSA facility in Hawaii with a collection of highly classified documents that he acquired while working at the agency as a systems analyst.

The documents, some of which have been published in The Washington Post and Britain’s Guardian newspaper, detailed some of the most secret surveillance operations undertaken by the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as classified legal memos and court orders underpinning the programs in the United States.

The 29-year-old intelligence analyst revealed himself June 9 as the leaker in an interview with the Guardian and said he went to Hong Kong because it provided him the “cultural and legal framework to allow me to work without being immediately detained.”

Snowden subsequently disappeared from public view; it is thought that he is still in the Chinese territory. Hong Kong has its own legislative and legal systems but ultimately answers to Beijing, under the so-called “one country, two systems” arrangement.

..Alert..Snowden News..Just In

.....Oh wow...they’ve gone after two other guys from Iceland..... Both affiliated with Wikileaks.

..Like I said...this thing is not just Snowden....Assange is more than likely using Snowden as a “Puppet” to get the documents he can’t while held in the Ecuador Embassy....further Assange has been really peeved with the UK and thus we saw these recent documents from Snowden on UK Security Programs. Assange is getting the world attention which is what he seeks...in order, as mentioned, to further his goals and agendas.

Here’s the news...:

“Google handed over data from the Gmail accounts of two former Wikileaks volunteers to the U.S. government. The orders, revealed on Friday by the two targets, are a snapshot of the rumored federal grand jury investigation into Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange.

The targets of the court orders are Smari McCarthy and Herbert Snorrason,.... both from Iceland..... McCarthy is an Internet activist and computer programmer who worked for Wikileaks until 2010..... Snorrason helped manage the whistleblowing’s website chatroom for two months in 2010.

On Tuesday, Google sent an email to the two former Wikileaks associates, informing them of the existence of the court orders, which until May 2 were secret. There is no official confirmation that the orders are related to the Wikileaks investigation being conducted by a federal grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, but every sign points in that direction.

And if China kowtows to Lord Obummer you will see Barry boasting about how he pimp slapped Beijing and they liked it. I saw somewhere where it said Obummer was going to punish Hong Kong if they refuse to extradite him. That means no more LGBT global summits and gay porn subsidies. Every once in a while I must go to Hong Kong and every kiosk is loaded with gay porn. It’s always dirty old men running the kiosks. You find them on every street corner, but if you want to buy a Wall Street Journal or South China Morning Post, good luck they have those newspapers hidden below the gay mags. Then the Hong Kong newspaper industry can’t figure out why they sell very few printed newspapers. I call that the White House LGBT global agenda.

[who cares about him]

He is symptomatic of the systemically corrupt processes by which the mound of impotent (ask those runners in Boston) bureaucratic Rainbow-PC Übertermites increases its size.

His generation was indoctrinated to lie and cheat its way through everything without batting an eyelash — and We should ALL care about the demoralized consequences of that.

Thanks for the information on hideous Hong Kong. If I were to visit China, it would more likely be areas in the north or northwest. I live in a dry, sparsely populated area at more than 9,000 feet elevation (roughly 3,000 meters) and am considering getting yaks, when the drought here subsides. Not surprisingly, at least two Chinese-American immigrants have purchased some cheap local properties and are pondering doing something with them (properties too far from power lines).

I happen to be an alternative energy nerd doing a few experiments, one of which is for low-cost solar heating (homebuilt drainback type, with water tanks for thermal storage), homebuilt PV solar plants on utility trailers, gardening projects designed for the difficult climate, etc. It's only low tech., labor-intensive stuff with tiny trickles of money, but that's me. I also like to do tai chi and kung fu forms.

Hopefully Hong Kong won’t turn him over.

He is a traitor and a liberal. Your support for a liberal traitor is irrational and speaks volumes.
