Edward Snowden blames Obama By: Tal Kopan June 17, 2013 11:39 AM EDT

NSA leaker Edward Snowden criticized President Barack Obama for empty promises in an online Q-and-A on Monday, saying the president’s alleged failings influenced his decision to release the secret information on surveillance.

“Obama’s campaign promises and election gave me faith that he would lead us toward fixing the problems he outlined in his quest for votes. Many Americans felt similarly. Unfortunately, shortly after assuming power, he closed the door on investigating systemic violations of law, deepened and expanded several abusive programs, and refused to spend the political capital to end the kind of human rights violations like we see in Guantanamo, where men still sit without charge,” Snowden said in a response to a question from a commenter on The Guardian’s website.

Snowden was responding to this question: “Why did you wait to release the documents if you said you wanted to tell the world about the NSA programs since before Obama became president?”

Snowden also said the U.S. would not be able to silence him.

“All I can say right now is the US Government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me. Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped,” Snowden said when asked by Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald what would happen to the information he possessed if something happened to him.

He defended his decision to flee to Hong Kong, claiming the U.S. government did what he expected when the story came out and ruined his chance of a fair trial.

“First, the US Government, just as they did with other whistleblowers, immediately and predictably destroyed any possibility of a fair trial at home....

Reminds me of the very last scene from “Three Days of the Condor” when redford’s character says to the company man—”they’ve got it” meaning the NYTimes has the story. To which the company man says— “you think they’ll print it?”

Humans make mistakes and this thing he did involves some legal consequences which I’m not sure he’s fully realizing.

Nobody gets a TS and is unaware of the legal consequences of what he did (which includes taking an enormous amount of material that has nothing to do with violations of the privacy of American citizens.

Thanks. It’s been a while since seeing that movie.

We do have the internet now, which was created to protect communications from a communist takeover. And it seems to be fulfilling its intended purpose.

Idol worship. At some point, they will know they were used. It’s our job to rub it in their face.

This is why liberals should not be allowed to work in our national security apparatus. Voting for Obamao twice should be an instant disqualification for a security clearance and should prevent anyone from getting a job at the FBI, NSA, CIA, etc., not even as a contract janitor wiping down toilets.

If you never see teen boys going crazy over pretty girl singers, then why is Miley Cyrus dressing like a skank these days? Substitute “slutty” for “pretty” and you might have something.

Women, as an average, vote more with their emotions. There are exceptions and we’re blessed to have thousands of them here on FR and millions more across the country, but as an average, they trend more left than men. Many female acquaintances of mine on Twitter during the 2012 campaign absolutely would not be swayed by Romney’s solid economic arguments even as they whined and griped about not being able to find decent jobs during the Obama Recession; to them it was ALL about “reproductive choice” (free contraception and abortion on demand with no restrictions) and “social justice” (punitive taxation on “the rich,” nationalized healthcare, pushing the gay agenda including gay “marriage” and gay Boy Scout leaders, forgiving their student loans, “clean energy,” etc.). These were allegedly intelligent women with college degrees, who were engaged with their world and kept up on the news, and yet they absolutely WOULD NOT LISTEN to any sort of reason. Anyone who disagreed with The Won was a racist and was subject to a Two Minutes Hate of insane intensity.

Forgot to add—voting for Ron Paul should also qualify. Snowden was a Paulestinian.

I think there are even 2 more, far left hand side (see girl with red hair), and also behind light skinned black man on the right hand side (top of his head), but the 3 you mentioned are the ones I can definitely say are white males.

1. Scandals begin with a betrayal. Whether Snowden took Obamas failure personally may be a cover for the real story.

2. There is always more to the story. Breitbart was a master at this.
3. I have no doubt the CIA is involved in at least one of the leaks in these scandals.
4. Its entirely possible the CIA and NSA are at odds, with the CIA taking the larger world view on spying on terrorists, a la the Patriot Act. The NSA, with a wink/nod from the White House, takes it further and rolls in American citizens. You now have two agencies with two completely opposite agendas. This is straight out of a Vince Flynn novel.

5. I guarantee you the CIA is pissed as hell about Benghazi, and sure as hell is not happy with the Admins position on arming Syrian rebels.

6. There are traitors in both parties who are scared of being discovered.

There was so many mis-statements when this story broke. He worked for CIA in Sweden then it was Switzerland the length of time with the CIA. When that ended. Then work with dell. Then denied. Work with past agency work was also varied. A year. Three months two weeks. His income varied. $200,000? $100,000. Yet he and girl friend go on love trip to HK. He stays at a high rate hotel just down the street from HK CIA office and doesn’t check out for a couple of days. And they can’t find him. Puuleeeze!

What is he using for $$$. Two round trip visits to HK plus a later one. Hotel, food access to computer that they can’t trace in minutes Come on!!!!

Regardless of what NSA and DC insiders want us to believe he knows something we need to know. If CIA is involved it won’t end.
Snow will disappear. New name face etc. but their mission will be fulfilled.
