Washingtons decision to arm Syrias Sunni Muslim rebels has plunged America into the great Sunni-Shia conflict of the Islamic Middle East, entering a struggle that now dwarfs the Arab revolutions which overthrew dictatorships across the region.

Maybe this will go where the Spanish Civil War didn’t, full scale multi nation war. Maybe we do need a Daladier and Chamberlain this time around.
Arms manufacturers are having a party as we speak. And they partied on these dates as well.

Yaaay..! We get to fight Iran AND Russia...!!
EVERYONE LOVES US..!!!
Much-vaunted RESET BUTTON for everyonnnnnnne...!!
Combined with Kristinn’s post “U.S. Puts Jets in Jordan, Fuels Russian Fear of Syria No-Fly Zone” I’m concerned that our president and secretary of state (who served in Vietnam) will blunder us into war. with an enemy he seeks as allies and co-religious.
No. We need to sit back and watch the bastards exterminate each other.
Can someone refresh my memory? Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys in Syria? I can’t seem to figure it out.
Does that mean Obama’s Nobel peace prize will be taken back?
I’m standing with Syria and Russia on this one but not Iran.
The Caliph is a Sunni, so he’s backing his side.
Don’t worry, Caliph Obama has it under control.
Looks like Obama got his bluff called if this is true.
Iran doesn’t have the S300’s but probably has enough other weaponry to bring down a couple of patrolling aircraft. I can’t imagine him risking that, but we’ll see.
In depth analysis here on the implications of the US/EU involvement in Syria (slight leftist bias - less than expected from a hard left news source).
I’m gonna need a scorecard for this one.
they are all bad guys and if iran russia and the us get in that is still all bad guys
It’s a ‘skunk fight.’ Naturally Bam wants in.
This should be interesting, especially if Russia puts its foot down
Syria’s Christians make up 10% of the population there. Under Assad, they have been allowed to live in peace.
America’s “allies”, the rebels, have been murdering these Christians as fast as they can. According to a recent report, the rebels have wiped out an entire Christian town.
There are no good guys.
But Obama wants to side with the side that Al Qaeda likes over the baddies that we have known for decades.
